Fun soda machine!
I love my soda stream! So, I had ordered this and Amazon sent me a different model. I contacted amazon and they corrected my order and sent me the right one. Because of this I can compare this to the one you have to manually pump. First when you use it make sure you shove the bottle up all the way. Seems like a no sh*t Sherlock moment but hey learned my lesson. Any who...if you don't no carbonation and water gushes everywhere. Great time if you want a fountain and not a fountain drink. Next, if you have to hold it then definitely don't push the bubbly button. Next, after I learned that lesson I immediately fell in love with my machine. It has definitely helped me cut down on soda/pop/coke or whatever else you people call it. Yes I said you people. I can say that the power one is my fave and no I was not paid to say this. Nor did Jillian from the commercial threaten me. I like to put mango rum in my bubbly water and will be trying other lovely combinations in the near future. With carbonation I get it you're going to belch. But for some reason I feel this makes me more prone to belching unlike regular soda. There's no scientific study in the works to verify this. It's fun and easy to use and yes I do recommend it. If the budget is tight the manual one works just as well. (I purchased this when it was less and it came with a $30 coupon so I paid the same price as I would the manual). I did notice the price did go up. Hopefully it'll come back down again. I also got this because I love pushing buttons and it does everything for me. I use the third button from lto r and it seems to be just the right amount of carbonation. Thank you and have a lovely rest of the day.

I LOVE THIS THING
I LOVE THIS THING! (Forgive the caps, I just truly am excited about this discovery.) I already had a Culligan system, but couldn't chug down enough water. This system has helped me up my water intake, and now I easily go through about 3 full bottles a day. I purchased this also for several people on my Christmas list, and they all say they love it too and that it's making a difference in their lives. Two have used it to get off their extreme, long-time soda addictions. I also originally bought an array of "flavorings" to use with it, but now I have discovered a more natural way to flavor it without any extra ingredients I can't pronounce. I simply juice a lemon, orange or grapefruit (from my trees in the backyard), add a couple tablespoons of the juice to the bottle after I "bubble it" and then add a little Stevia. The freshest taste ever! My grandkids love it too, and since my daughter is pregnant again, we all feel good knowing what we're putting in our bodies is all natural. Our family is vegetarian and very conscious about our food sources, so that's important to us. The only thing that you have to figure out is how to order the C02 tanks. The last time I got them I ordered them directly from SodaStream, and found they have an exchange program for the empty canisters. Not only do they pick them up from your doorstep, you get a price reduction on the full replacement tanks. Love that we can recycle them. So... bottom line, I highly recommend this system for many reasons, both personal and environmental.

AVOID: Prone to failure and costly to repair under warranty
AVOID the Power model. There is no advantage over the Source model and is more prone to failure due to the additional electronics. We learned this the hard way. Our Sodastream Power lasted 3 months. Started having issues with flashing lights after each use. Once the lights flash, the unit is unresponsive. We have to unplug the unit in order to reset. Even when we can get the sodastream to work, it only does one air pulse before it gets stuck with the flashing lights so it only produces very mild carbonation. Many people seem to experience this issue. Seems like there is a defect in the electronics.Build quality is garbage and now we have to pay to send back for repairs.

Defective machine: valve problem?
I ended up with a defective machine. This is my 3rd sodastream, so I am very familiar with the product and how it works. Right out of the box, the lights would just blink and the machine wouldn't carbonate. From various troubleshooting forums, it looks like the valve is defective, which seems to be a bit common with this particular model. I am trying to exchange it (apparently there are no returns for this item). I will revise review if the situation is resolved to my satisfaction.

Good Product - with the full size cartridge
I'm really happy with this product. It's motivating me to drink more water. My son also loves the soda stream My Water flavors that you can buy separately.Be aware you need to buy the full size co2 cartridge separately for this unit to consistently work. The starter kit includes a very small "starter" cartridge that should typically carbonate two or three bottles of water. However, sometimes it doesn't even do that. The first model I was sent was not the color I ordered - it also didn't work due and I wasn't sure why. I reported the color error and they sent me a replacement in the right color right away. It didn't work either. After troubleshooting by phone with customer service, I decided to go out and buy the full size cartridge and tried it with both the units I'd been sent - they worked fine. Given the comments below, it seems like the seller should realize and fix this problem as they are probably sending out a lot of replacement units when the likely problem is an empty cartridge. Enjoy.

Worked well for ~two years
This device worked perfectly well and made great bottles of sparkling water until it became defective ~two years after I started using it (the LED lights on the buttons begin to flash and the device is rendered nonfunctional). The SodaStream support team has been less than helpful and rather slow to respond to enquiries. Troubleshooting steps on the SodaStream website do not solve the issue. Planned obsolescence?!
