Q: Can you grill small amounts of meats on it (with a separate grill of course)?

I'm sure that you CAN. I am not sure you would want to. The fire tends to burn hot right up to the top of the stove and may burn the meat. Any drippings will drop into the stove. If you are going to use/carry a grill, you might prefer a small cast iron pan. Steak cooked on a hot skillet is yummy. Alternatively, you might want to cut the meat into small pieces on a skewer. Then you could vary the height above the fire.

Q: Does the stove get sooty and dirty after use? Does it depend on what you burn?

Of course it does. It is holding a fire. How clean your fire burns is dependent upon how dry your fire-materials are. I got very little soot while using charcoal (also the longest burn), but all materials are going to make water & soot/CO2 as gas byproducts. The water condenses on the pot and makes a sooty film on whatever metal pot you are heating.This little stove does a fine job of burning almost smoke free, but it still makes some soot, and a nice little pile of ashes on the inside as well.

Q: how well does the larger (Titan) stove work with an alcohol stove placed within it ... specifically a titanium Evernew brand alcohol stove?

The Titan works excellent with a variety of alcohol stoves. I'm not familiar with the Evernew Titanium model, but if it fits inside a 4" cylinder and is not more than 4" tall it should work very well. I have used a large Sterno can in mine and it works fantastic. It's a good option for ice camping where there is no wood. Honestly though, the Titan works so well with any wood or solid fuel that you may find you won't need the alcohol stove at all. There is another feature of the Titan that allows it to burn any liquid fuel, the ash pan is water tight and can hold about a cup of any liquid. It will burn intensely for about 15 min with a pan full of alcohol.
