Shipping prices are ridiculous, seventy five dollars for shipping of less than sixteen frozen products.
The starter kit contained my least favorite foods. Jenny Craig is very expensive now. I've been a member for two decades and the food has become less desirable. I used to purchase the food because I loved the taste, not anymore.

One star off for cost; one star off for how highly-processed the food is
This 3-day starter package and the 5-day package both cost far less, at Walmart. About half the ninety something price listed here. The food I've eaten so far tastes decent, for prepackaged food. I especially liked the apple cinnamon oatmeal and zesty tortellini soup; just heat and eat the soup and add water and heat, for the oatmeal. Many items in the starter packs are high in carbs and sodium. Many items are also very high in protein and fiber, iron, minerals and vitamins. If you use an online calorie and nutrition tracker, you can keep all the info in one place and track your diet progress as you go. Fitness Pal is the free one I use.I learned that my normal meal portions were too big, my between-meal snacking was out of control; that I ate way too much sugar, far too little protein and fiber and also, that I needed to pay much more attention to vitamin and mineral content in my food. Not just to fat and calories!I have yet to use the free Jenny Craig hotline number, which was provided in my off-the-shelf starter pack. I haven't used my included coupons for more Jenny Craig food, either. You do need a microwave for most of the items and you do need to provide your own fruit, vegetables and dairy for sides and snacks, and also provide your own drinks. There are plenty of food options to choose from in the starter pack, but if you are looking for fresh, organic or farm-to-table style eating on this plan, then that's not going to happen unless you add those things in on your own. These starter packs are prepackaged and preseasoned for a reason: to strictly control the portions and content, to make it basically fool proof. If you follow the plan, you do lose weight. If you cheat, you don't.I'm not sure how I really feel being wholly dependent on supplied food in the beginning of this program; not sure how I feel about how highly processed and high sodium the supplied food items are, either.I'll decide, if it continues to work for me, whether to continue with the food (as it's far easier than shopping, searching, prepping and cooking on my own), or stop using it and try to transition to my own "real" food, just eating and snacking less often, eating more appropriate, smaller portions.

Great variety but not the right price!
I've dieted using Jenny Craig before and must say the quality of the food is good for prepackaged. This mix give you a good assortment. My reason for the only the one star is the price. I just purchased this exact starter kit today at my local Wal-Mart for 44.99 not an ad price regular price. Thought I'd check out Amazon crazy! wal-Mart has the right price!

Huge dissapointment!
This food is so bad. It is like eating a package of chemicals. The packages say 15 grams of protein in the main courses I’ve tried but it must be protein added with protein powder because the main courses are mainly rice or noodles with perhaps 4 tiny 1/4 inch pieces of chicken Certainly not anything like the picture on the package. The bread portions are like chemical wheat rubber. This is my 2nd time on Jenny Craig but the food before was often pretty good. I have no idea what has happened but obviously they have a new food provider These meals are expensive and certainly not healthy .
