Best Seed I have purchased hands down.
I don't usually leave reviews, but this product exceeded my expectations in such a way that I had to! I put this seed out--and then we had 4 days of heavy rain. I just knew that it had washed away, and I was going to be out the money and time. Nope! 7 days after I put this out, even with the bad rains--my grass is coming up! Under the oak tree in the shade! I will post pictures in a few days. I am in Alabama--and this was on sandy soil. Buy this product.

Buy this!!! Highly recommend!
I don’t understand how this seed isn’t more highly rated. I have tried for years to grow grass in my back patio area, which does not get much sun. The ground is hard, shaded, a bit rocky, etc. I have such low faith in the ability of this ground to grow grass that I didn’t even loosen the soil For the seed. I just threw it out on top of the ground and then watered it. It didn’t even sink into the ground because the ground is so hard! I was amazed to see the grass growing on top of the ground and then into the ground! And it is sprouting so much grass! I just bought another bag of it to do a better job laying it because this stuff is amazing! I have tried for years and nothing else has worked!

Decent Product
Bought because the Scotts equivalent was out of stock. Worked ikay but seemed like I had better results with Scott’s on my lawn.

Worked like a charm, pay attention to the season before you seed
I'm planting this in May in GA which is well past when I should be for this grass seed but I have had good success with the first seeding sprouting and continuing to grow. In deep shade, no less! Also, in areas that get a little sun during the day but not much. The ground has been moist without me having to do much the first few days (not ideal for seed but it was not in a place where it was going to runoff). I still have some of this left and will do a second spread of it soon. If what has sprouted just as of now continues to thrive, I will buy more for the fall. Honestly I don't know why anyone would have issues with this seed. I did nothing to prepare the ground, which was sandy, deeply shady, bare areas.

Not good results
Well, I followed the instructions on the package.Only a 8x10 ft area heavy shade. Tilled the soil to about 4 inches deep and raked smooth removing all clods and lumps. Spread by hand heavily. Regularly watered, never let the soil dry out. About 33% of the seed sprouted, looks pretty sparse. I can't believe that the seed is not good, there are too many great reviews on it. I do (now) notice that the website indicates sandy soil, my soil is the midwest regular "dirt". The rest of my lawn is like golf-turf thick, really beautiful.Reading reviews, seems as if this seed does better in the South than in the northern climate/soil. But...just a guess.

Almost Non-Existant Germination!!!
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!! I've sown a LOT of seed as a professional landscaper and this seed germination rate is the poorest I've ever experienced. It was sown next to a new lawn the same day but used as there were some Cedar trees that partially shaded the area. Still, there was plenty of sunlight to made grass seed "pop'. The other lawn is thick and lush. You might see 10% of the Pennington's weak little sprouts. Both seeds were treated with the same care, so it wasn't poor planting procedure on my end.

Grows where no grass would grow before!
We have a beautiful couple of trees out front that have slowly snuffed out our lovely St. Augustine due to their shadey ways. We spent an entire Saturday tilling, adding soil and laying sod only for it to slowly die out (watering regularly). We thought it was a parasite or bad soil but we didn't have the heart to spend another $1500 having more sod installed. We noticed our neighbor down the street has similar shade coverage and their yard is incredibly thick and green. So i asked them what they used....it was this stuff. So we tilled up the yard, watered liberally, added the seed and watered a bit more...It's been about 10 days and we are seeing some awesome growth! You can see in the photos how much bald dirt there is, so you can imagine how bad it was before! We are excited about this first growth and it's getting denser every day!

Actually works
This seed worked amazing and so fast! We have a huge magnolia Tree and the grass just doesn’t grow there. We tilled up the dirt, used a seed spreader and watered everyday and I’m so excited to finally have grass again instead of mud.
