Why is there a hole in the top? I used mine for the first time last night and sparks were flying out of it?

Why does the screen cost as much as an entire fire pit with a screen included? Seems like a rip off.

I understand what you mean but my other screen that came with my fire pit was flimsy and metal was too pliable. This is sturdy and of good quality.
