Does it work with Serato Scratch Live?

yes. The plx 500 works with serato dj. You'll need a mixer with serato sound card/license or the add ons that allow you to connect to your computer. For the record, I love my plx 500. Just recorded my first vinyl record to digital format about an hour ago.

Is this turntable automatic?

Poor turntable for djing as far as automatic its not.

How hard is this to set up as i know nothing. Can i play music from my phone to this?

This is a turntable it has no speakers or amp, you cannot play music from this device.
