Best Mattress After 40 Years of Searching & saved $6000 buying online vs local retailer!
This review could be a book. I have been on the search for the “perfect mattress” and box spring for over the last two years. At 40 years old I have a bad lower back, shoulders, and mid back. I could not find the perfect mattress, after going through mattresses about every six months. I finally gave in and went to the local Mattress Firm. I researched every bed and was sold on Tempur-pedic. At this point the price didn’t scare me, I needed something that would work. I stopped in to make the final purchase and I was looking at roughly $8000 out the door. There was one problem, they would not put my Tempur-pedic mattress on the same invoice as a mattress firm adjustable bed frame, it would void the warranty. Something sounded fishy to me, if I’m purchasing a bedframe from the retailer and the mattress from the same location, But it was going to void my warranty on my Tempur-pedic, something didn’t sound right with an $8000 price tag & having two separate invoices from one major retailer. For a purchase price of $8,000 I walked out. I started researching mattresses online and read about every single one of them from firmness, to customer service, to how they held up, etc. I found Tuft & Needle having the most satisfying customers with overall best customer service. The next day I called Tuft & needle and quizzed them on their beds, customer service, warranty and everything else I could think of. They couldn’t have been more friendly and had the answers to every question. I understand Tempur-pedic has the name in the mattress business, but things do change and I’m one who prefers to buy online. It’s honestly hard to buy a large ticket item online without trying it first, or knowing the comfort/firmness. For the price difference, we all understand online doesn’t have the retail buildings, commissions to pay employees, employees themselves, overhead, insurance, you get the point. I got home that evening and made my purchase online. I bought off Amazon because I know they back everything, instead of buying direct from Tuft & Needle. The order arrived on time, we set it up in minutes, I was sleeping on it within 2 to 3 nights from my order date. It’s been about three months now, and after 40 years of my life I’ve never been so satisfied with a mattress/bed. I’m embarrassed to say, I look forward to going to bed every night. There are some mornings I roll over and don’t even want to get up. I honestly have never been so comfortable in my life! I was nervous about “would it be too firm or too soft”. The Tempur-pedic was perfect and I was hoping it would be somewhere around that firmness. The Mint was exactly what I was hoping for. My back pain is slowly disappearing, and this mattress has completely changed my life in many ways. I absolutely have no pain in the mornings, and my back and neck pain is slowly going away. Furthermore, this bed is absolutely incredible, as it’s the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Let me also add, I’m not getting paid for this post, I just know the research I went through to find the perfect bed and I want to share my experience with someone going through the same situation. Forget the retailers mark up, $8000 verse $1000, it was a roll of the dice on what I would be receiving. I couldn’t be more happy and I didn’t sacrifice a dollar. We all understand online sales versus retailers, and if we cut out the retailer we get the hot deals. We will be buying our kids a Tuft and Needle mattress soon, as we believe a good nights sleep, leads to a great day! So at the end of the day, we spent on average $2000 total getting the mattress of our dreams, a better bed frame with massage, tilt, lights, etc. versus paying $8000 with poor customer service and multiple invoices for whatever the reasoning was they couldn’t explain at Mattress Firm. We are so happy with Tuft & Needle, love our bed, and saved a ton of money! You won’t be disappointed, make that purchase at Tuft & Needle!

Gelreat for plus size
I am morbidly obese. I think I'm almost 400 lb and my husband is about 250. I do not sink into the bed at all I get the best night sleep. This is the second tuft& Needle bed that we have boughten. We got the very basic version about 4 years ago in a queen and decided when we moved into the new house we would buy the king and I'm so happy we did. It's amazing. And a very light sleeper and I do not feel my husband getting in and out of bed at night at all. He tosses and turns all night and I don't feel it.

SO FAR, SO GOOD... WE'RE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS NEW FOAM MATTRESS
We bought this in Full size, to use in our Guest room with a new 14" high bed frame from another source. It was our first "mattress-in-a-box" but not our first high quality memory foam mattress. We selected the Tuft and Needle "Mint" model based on a fresh Consumer Reports rating plus on-line reviews at several sites.PRO: Very soft and comfortable top surface, yet great body support. Effectively isolates movement...no bounce or shake. Excellent perimeter support so you can sleep right next to the edge without any sag or tendency to roll off. Minimal odor when first unpacked. (Watch the manufacturer's video of that easy process, before opening.) We actually like this one better than our existing, high-end memory foam mattress costing about twice as much.CON: It would be very helpful if the rolled-up mattress had a sticker on the wrap indicating the direction it would unroll, because you can't tell. As the last of the "grip" wrapping was removed it became apparent we had it in the wrong direction to unroll and, due to the final "vacuum" bag over the mattress not being well sealed, it started to expand before we could move it. No big deal, but easily prevented by an arrow on the outer wrap.FYI: Full expansion can take a couple of days, perhaps more. Although you can sleep on it the same day, the firmness is still changing and one or more corners may look a bit sagged. Just be aware of that and have patience for the birthing process to run its course. Also, the weight is near the limit for UPS delivery and the mattress was left in our driveway instead of up on the covered porch. The same thing happened later when the bed frame was delivered. In both cases UPS had put a "sorry we missed you" sticker on the box, even though we were home and would have gladly helped to carry the box up a few steps. Just be aware that may happen to you as well. There's no danger of the mattress getting wet but, due to cost, it's a tempting target for theft and you don't want it unnecessarily exposed because of sloppy UPS service.

Great memory foam mattress. Great for what it is intended for. Some flaws not related to sleeping.
The memory foam is fantastic. Never wake up with hip or shoulder pain. I am a side and stomach sleeper. I am a hot sleeper and find this bed to be great temperature-wise. There is no edge support which is annoying if you are used to sitting on the edge of the bed. There was an adjustment period for getting off the bed as well. Once you remember the lack of support on the edge, you can easily dismount from the mattress without slipping off. The other flaw is that sitting up and moving around on the bed when the majority of your weight is concentrated on the rear end and hands. Memory foam works best when weight is evenly distributed across the mattress. When weight in concentrated in too defined an area the foam doesn't offer much support. It feels like a cheap motel mattress feels when you lay on it. There is very slight sink-in feeling that you experience. An awareness that you have sunk into the mattress. It is not the "stuck in the mud" sensation that older foam mattress owners reported. It is more of a 'soft layer on top with sneaky support just below the surface' kind of feel.
