Something to Talk About -- Readable and Highly Recommended
This book is fantastic! I cannot recommend this book enough for those who are now or soon might face all of those life challenges that arise from aging parents. There are lots of books out there about aging, dementia and physical, mental and emotional health issues, but readers will be find it difficult to find another book that addresses the intersection of all of these ... and one that doesn't read like a medical textbook. The author is not a medical doctor but an aging professional who has spent years in the field working directly with older adults, their families and related communities and organizations, and it shows. This is what a self-help book is all about but rarely is. The writer demonstrates a deep passion for the people in her field and real empathy for those struggling with old age and specifically dementia. The writing is always clear, well-organized, and in the end kind. It showcases real-world situations and offers lists of strategies to help you, the caregiver, respond to those situations, tactics that can work for your loved one and for you. This has been so helpful to me and I recommend this to all my friends who also seem to struggle with caring for their loved ones. Starting the conversation is the most difficult thing and this books has tips to help navigate those tough talks. Most important for me are those sections of self-care and care-giving burnout. Especially now during COVID, I struggle with doubting myself and blaming myself and just trying to do so much. This book can't give you more time, but for me it has validated all of those feelings that I have often felt and that I know so many others have too. I can attest the activities work, the strategies help and the lists have given me the tools and starting points I need to make informed decisions.I'm so grateful to the friend who suggested this title! I'm glad I read it and own it and recommend it to all of you who are facing this next phase in life!

Understanding our elders behavior.
Caring Both Ways is very informative and a, “Must Have,” to help guide you through an elders, “Senior years.” The author offers knowledge and personal experience to help one navigate this new season of your loved one’s life. I have recommended, “Caring Both Ways” to many who now have an elder or loved one in their care.

Very basic
This book provides very basic level guidance. There’s personal bias demonstrated throughout the book without evidence-based reasoning.
