The Complete Ripley Novels

I really like the whole idea of this series. I had read all five books over the years but it was a pleasure to read all of them back to back. These are quality books. I had to break them in before I could read them. I haven't done that in a long time. I highly recommend this set to anyone who wants to read about a unique character. Patricia Highsmith should be me more respected than she is. She can really tell a story.

This set represents great value for money and is a very nicely presented box-set. The 5 hardback books are good quality with decent bindings and paper. The box is also nicely finished. Price here from amazon (when I bought) was excellent (£47.64) its normally around £70 - so it can be one to watch to see if it moves down again (anything under £55 is good though!).I wont review the books as there are loads of reviews out there on them, other than to say they are a great read and this is a lovely way to have all of them. If you, or a partner, liked one then treat yourself or them to the whole set!

Highsmith is one of the best fiction writers of our time and this set of novels clearly demonstrates her talents. I did not want this series to come to an end. Thoroughly enjoyable to read. Ripley is a complex character and sociopath, whom Highsmith gets the reader to care about. She has an amazing attention to detail and I thoroughly enjoyed going on this adventure. I know that 3 of the books were made into films; however, it would have been best to make them into a series of films with the same actor playing Ripley. I could see Matt Damon playing in all of them; however, I would want them to remain true to Highsmith's writing.

This box set is well worth the money. I would have spent a lot more buying each Ripley novel; even if they were used, dog-eared books. It’s a handsome collection and the individual books are quality hardbacks.This box set is perfect if you are a fan or a just wanting to get into the novels after seeing the movies they are based on. Patricia Highsmith’s prose will keep you entertained.As an aside, I wish Amazon would add more protection to their shipments. Mine had some slight shipping damage and I’ve had that happen before on items I want in good condition, like box sets, collectibles and limited edition items.
