Very helpful with fine motor skills. Easy to use with quick results!
Really good product for helping strengthen fine motor skills, and at a great price. I’ll be ordering lead to refill. My son is not very patient with gadgets, especially one that is complicated or weird looking, but as soon as he started using one of these to write and draw, he instantly took to it. I was surprised! He’s getting faster and steadier at writing (previously hated it and it was hard to read); he gripped his pencil with his fist to write, resisting the “proper” grasp and writing held him back a lot. His therapist suggested these pencils when I told her he’d like to write better IF it’s not stressful, and she assigned some simple finger exercises, explaining that building the muscles used in fine motor skills will naturally lead to an understanding of why he resists working on his writing. The goal to find out if it’s due to inability vs lack of a natural level of strength and dexterity that comes with use of certain muscles, in certain ways, on a regular basis. Seems logical, he’s a gamer, and has no issue using controllers, he types really fast due to gaming in his past using the keyboard, and now he’s found a way to ease into handwriting more neatly and quickly, without “practicing”. Drawing comes easier, as well, which is even better as writing isn’t always necessary when being creative (typing can usually do), but drawing allows his creativity to flow in ways that were previously stunted! I never intended to force him to write out long sentences, and he has modifications and accommodations and we will keep them, but if he can learn to do something without exhausting himself and without it causing him more discomfort than he chooses, I love it for him, and he seems to feel better about himself every time he accomplishes something he hadn’t before. He’s 14. These pencils are awesome for fine motor skill strengthening. I use them myself when he’s using his, and gotta say they are pretty fun and a super cool design.

Great product! Love the colors!
My son has been using these with much more success. They are easy to grip and comfortable for his hands. They are a bit small, but that's perfect for kids. You don't have to sharpen, just twist.

I witnessed a miracle with these pencils!
I LOVE these pencils! I have used them for quite a while to fix minor pencil grip issues with students over the years. A few months ago, after trying in vain to correct a third grader’s horrendous grip most of the year, I ordered some more. I had INSTANT success with these. (Just so we’re clear, I honor a functional grip even if it’s not pretty.) I had tried everything from modeling to hand over hand to different, less obvious grips (I didn’t want to embarrass this third grade boy with a “baby” pencil) and nothing worked. No matter what, he always reverted to holding his pencil between his *extended* thumb and index finger which made for painstakingly slow writing, frequent hand cramps, and lots of frustration with legibility. I gave him this pencil, showed him how to use it, and let him write. OMG. It was like I was watching a different kid writing! His speed, legibility, and confidence improved dramatically before my eyes. It was like someone turned on the turbo boost- even HE was astonished at how quickly he was writing. Also, it’s not often you get a heartfelt “thank you” from a third grade boy when you give them a glittery blue “weird” looking pencil. I cannot recommend these enough. Many other pencil grips can be “cheated” when a kid has the determination to do what they’ve always done, but THIS one forces (in the nicest way possible) the kid to hold the pencil between three fingers for a proper grip. Worth it! However, I do wish there was an option that had an eraser on the end. Other than that, they’re perfect.

Fantastic tool
I recently introduced my nephew to the Twist and Write Pencil, Assorted Colors, and I couldn't be more pleased with the positive impact it's had on his writing skills. First and foremost, the design of this pencil is ingenious. The unique twist-and-write mechanism encourages proper grip and hand positioning, which is crucial for young learners who are developing their fine motor skills. My nephew found it easy and intuitive to hold, and I noticed an improvement in his handwriting almost immediately. The assorted colors added an element of fun and excitement to his writing practice. He enjoyed switching between the different colors, which kept him engaged and motivated to practice for longer periods. Plus, the vibrant colors made his writing assignments more visually appealing and enjoyable. I also appreciate the durability of these pencils. Despite being used frequently, they have held up remarkably well, with no signs of breakage or wear. The lead is smooth and writes consistently, producing clear and legible letters with minimal effort. Overall, the Twist and Write Pencil, Assorted Colors has been a fantastic tool for helping my nephew develop his writing skills. It's fun, functional, and effective, making it the perfect choice for young learners embarking on their writing journey. I would highly recommend it to parents and educators looking for a quality writing tool for their children.

Great for Early Writers
Love! I teach kindergarten and these pencil are great for kids who need to build the fine muscles in their hands needed to hold a pencil correctly and apply the correct amount of pressure. My students’ work went from unreadable to perfect. The cute little rocket shape is great too!

Great pencils.. once you figure out how to fix/refill them
My lefty child loves these pencils but the lead runs out quickly. So I bought the four pack and a bunch of refill lead (also on Amazon). The four pack came where three of the pens worked properly but one, the lead would just slide out making it frustrating and functionally unusable. Here are the directions to fix lead that falls out: Position the pencil until the logo is facing down 1) Pull the lead out 2) Twist the tip of the pencil counter clockwise until it will not turn anymore 3) Slide the lead back in. It should only be insertable for about 1/3 of the lead so 2/3 will stick out the top. If the lead falls all the way into the tip, repeat steps 1-3 4) Twist the tip clockwise now until the top of the lead fully retracts into the pencil 5) Twist the tip counter clockwise to reveal the lead tip. It should be gripped in the pencil now

The idea is great..... but
I loved the idea of these pencils. I had never seen anything like them before! My 11 year old daughter has always had an improper pencil grip. She was in OT when she was younger, but this was one thing that was never able to be corrected. I have tried for years to figure something out. I came across these pencils a few weeks ago and thought they would be perfect!! And, they almost are. They are really pushing my daughter to hold the pencil correctly. She has been enjoying using them with the fun colors and cool shape! I love that I haven't had to getting on her about using them! She goes straight for it when working on schoolwork! My only issue with these pencils is the lead. One of them, the lead came right out of it as soon as it came out of the package. And we cannot get it to stay in for anything. So, that pencil is useless other than her just holding it for the pencil correction, not actually writing with it. The other pencils do seem to be going in that direction as well. She has one out of the 4 that really holds the lead in and she can use it. But, the other two, the lead seems to slide out and she has to constantly fix them. If the lead stayed in better and we didn't have to fight with it, these would have gotten 5 stars!

These pencils are wonderful tools for early writers or anyone working on pencil grip. The order arrived quickly and they were reasonably priced compared to what I’ve seen before - I’m very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend these!

Best pencils my child has used
Fine gross motor is a challenge for my child. These are a game changer and so helpful to help him write
R**.
In the pencil The graphite (lead) is extremely hard and therefore faint.
The lead is hb too hard too light and although refills are available they are not offered or even mentioned at the time of ordering the product. The ballpoint pen is great though.

Great support for flexible fingers
The design is great for kids who are learning to print but their joints are too flexible. Helps support the fingers so they don’t tire out so quickly.
