Hi, unfortunately, there is no individual plastic protective coating on each magnet. The set does come in plastic wrapping to protect the magnets.

There's no country of origin mentioned on the shrink-wrap of the set. I will give the whole set as a gift, without breaking the shrink-wrap package. Sorry I cannot tell you more what's writing behind the individual magnet.
