I absolutely love this book. I love the stories behind each hymn. The way the book is formatted and the type of paper the stories are printed on somehow take you back to the time when so many of these hymns were written.

Beautiful, thicker paper with a “scalloped” type edge. I enjoy reading the history of the hymn. It delights me to know the information of the person who wrote it. I read the history and then find the song on my Spotify then sing along! Occasionally I post a picture of the song, like above, include the appropriate music and post it to my instagram story. This is how I came to know of this book; someone else did this. What a blessing! It’s a good book that I read a few times a week. Rich with the knowledge of the old hymns!

Lots of good church songs have heard down through the years. Will enjoy playing them on the piano.

This book is intended to help anyone know more about the stories and interesting facts surrounding famous, older hymns. I am the keyboardist for a local church and people are always asking me to tell them the stories or meanings behind a hymn we sang that Sunday. Having both volumes of these hymnology books has been very helpful to me. The book is arranged nicely, but not in alphabetical order (which would have made these easier to follow and look up) with the music score on the left and the story on the right. The scores are intermediate level and can be spruced up easily. The paper in this book is very nice. It is cream colored with torn pages on sides. It not only is easy to read, easy to play, and quality enough to look fine among my many other music books.

I enjoyed reading the background of many of my best loved hymns! I knew a few but many I did not. There were also hymns I was not familiar with but if you love church music, this is a definite good read!
