Read it to my 4yr old. It is a bit scary but all ends well, so ok for bed time.

I picked this up at the bookstore today because I was drawn to the title. My daughter (3 1/2 years old) and I instantly fell in love with it. It reads like a timeless children's fairy tale. It is beautifully imaginative and written in lovely prose. My daughter has literally asked me to read it over and over. After each reading she likes to recount the events in the story and recap on our feelings about it. I'm ordering more copies as gifts and would recommend to anyone.

Dark,whimsical and adorable. The artwork is beautiful, writing simple and easy for kids to understand. I loved it, best kid's book I've read this year!

Lovely story, illustrations and book. Daughter loves it

It's a nice book with beautiful illustrations. I love the Circus references and the charming and poetic illustrations. However I think the drawings are nicer than the text. It still is a book that I would recommend though!
