Works well for animals that chew wires...
A few years ago, I rescued a half-dead stray kitten and spent a bundle of money on vet bills to save her. To repay my kindness, she decided that she would chew every electrical wire and cord that she possible could. Before I "discovered" wire loom, she destroyed my scanner cords, 2 laptop power cords, several phone cords, a few stereo wires, and the electrical cord to a fan. Needless to say, that was quite annoying, as well as expensive.Someone told me about this stuff, and I bought a few small packages of it. It's quite a bit more expensive at the auto supply store because the packages are small. I started covering cords with it. The cat still tries to chew it, but she quickly gives up now. You get 100 feet of the wire loom, which comes in a big box that probably cost more to ship than the price of the item itself. (Thank goodness for free Super Saver Shipping and Prime shipping.) I ended up using a couple of boxes of this stuff by the time I got the whole house covered, but I literally covered every cord in the house.I've bought this in both the 1/4" version and the 1/2" version. The smaller one is good for skinnier things like cell phone chargers, phone lines, etc. It's also good for things you want to be more flexible, like your curling iron cord. However, it's too small for some applications. The 1/2" version works well for most electrical cords. The 1" version is way too big for anything, in my opinion.Oh, and as for the cat? Surprisingly, she never managed to electrocute herself, which is a small miracle. Since she can't chew on electrical wires now, she has turned her attentions to our shoelaces instead. :)

Holds up well to sharp teeth!
This has saved my electrical cords. I have a cat and he's a total jerk. When he gets bored or annoyed or happy or needy, he chews on things. All the things. But his favorite chew toys are electrical cords. Nevermind that I've purchased hundreds of toys and given him perches and all of that. Nope, he just wants the cords.I've purchased this in the 1/4" size (for phone cords or mice cords) and the 1/2" size (for typical outlet wires or HDMI cords). My cat still chews on this and seems to enjoy it better, but he hasn't managed to bite through to the inside wires yet. I've had the sheathing on for almost two years now, so it does very well in durability! It isn't always easy to put on long cords, especially if they bend a lot, but once it is done it stays on well. Tip - for example, if you have an HDMI cord you take the end of the HDMI cord (the plugin part) and use that at the beginning of the sheathing. Place the first bit of the cord into the sheathing but leave the head of the HDMI cord sticking out. Then pull that HDMI head through the sheathing until you've completely wrapped up the wire. Cut the sheathing and you should be good to go.

With some adjustments, effective at hiding wires from cats who are jerks
I have cats who like to chew. One or both of them have ruined two CPAP hoses and a speaker wire. Why didn't they get zapped? Jerks. Here's what I did...First I cut a foot of coil off and soaked it in a glass of vinegar. Then I tried to get the cats to play with it, because I can be even more of a jerk than they are. (See my review for the CPAP replacement hose)They want NOTHING to do with this coil after it's been soaked in vinegar. Since I considered it unwise to soak my speaker wire in vinegar, I poured some white vinegar in my hand and then smeared it over the length of the coil. Here, kitty, kitty. No? You won't want to play? I can't imagine why not...P.S. If you are covering a very thin wire, it may pop out of the coil frequently, which is super annoying. I wrapped a small piece of packing tape around the coil at 12" intervals. Save yourself the aggravation and the hour it took me to figure that much out.P.P.S. I didn't use this coil on my CPAP hose - it's way too small. I was just illustrating how jerky my cats are.

Cat Proof Your Wiring
Like another reviewer I have a cat that occasionally likes to chew on wire, usually small wire like the ones that run from a plug in power brick to an electronic gadget, the one that put me over the edge was when all my cordless phones went out because he chewed the power cord to the base station. He managed to chew it right at the power brick so close I could not splice it back together, I had to purchase a new one from Ebay. The same day I ordered the replacement power cord I ordered this loom and put it on the new power cord as soon as it arrived. I have also put it on every similar cord in the house (I had already had to splice my cell phone charger once before, should have bought this then).I think the price is great for 100 feet of loom, cheaper than a replacement power supply for a phone. I appreciate the other reviewer who said this took care of his cat chewing problem also. I might add that I have used this stuff before in a larger size to protect wiring under my truck that was being chewed by squirrels. My only problem is I can't figure out a way to secure it an the power brick end or the plug end of the wires, it tends to slide back. I tried wrapping it with electrical tape but it didn't stick well. If someone has a good solution to this please post it.

Deters, but doesn't always prevent, the cat from doing damage
I got this to protect my cords from my 1 yr old cat who likes to chew them. It's lighter and more flexible than I thought it would be, which I initially thought was nice. It's not difficult to to put on - just a little bit of a pain. Kitty took to the coil as soon as I pulled it out of the box - he tried to take off with the end of it. He chewed on it for awhile and eventually got bored with it. I didn't see any puncture marks so I excitedly wrapped all my small cords with the stuff. He generally left them alone (sometimes batted at them), but a couple days later he grabbed a hold of one of them and took a couple big chomps. Punctured the plastic and left bite marks in the Apple charging cord. The cord would've been a goner had it not been for the covering, but I was sitting right there and grabbed it before he could do more damage. So overall it deters him, but it doesn't completely prevent damage if/when he really gets the urge. Still on the lookout for something more heavy-duty.

Difficile à installer
Très difficile à installer. Peut-être qu’un diamètre plus gros se manipule mieux.
