Stiff plastic material, please do not expect rubbery material that flexible and snuggly fit into your pipe. Waste of money

Did stop the foul smell
The outer diameter was a bit small and I had to wrap 4 to 5 rounds of duct tape to make it fit snugly. But it has worked and I don’t get the foul smell any more from my washing machine drain.
