Product Description Our Woodstock Precious Stones Chimes Amethyst incorporates purple stone accents, making it as eye-catching as it is pleasing to the ear. Amethyst brings peace and calm to your life, keep it in your bedroom to bring on pleasant dream! The Woodstock Precious Stones Chimes is a series of small wind chimes designed using colourful and meaningful accents. In 1979, GRAMMY(R) Award-winning musician and instrument designer Garry Kvistad created the first Woodstock Chime from an aluminium lawn chair he found in a landfill. Fascinated by the Scale of Olympos, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano, Garry cut and tuned the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympos was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of our best selling, musically tuned windchimes. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Chimes in 1979 and still develop the chimes today. It remains a family-owned business in New York’s Hudson Valley. They don’t chime. Even in a high wind. Maybe needs gale force ?
Sitting here in quite high winds and not a sound from the chime. It’s quite small so I think the stones used are too heavy for the length of chimes or the strings are too short to allow much movement. Others say they sound good but mine is very disappointing.

Almost Great
If you want a wind chime this is not it. To small to move in the wind which defeats the object. The saving grace is the stunning crystal which flashes different colours in the sun, even on overcast days. I would still buy it for this. But. If you want chimes buy a bigger one.

Perfect size for a balcony but doesn't move much
I bought this woodchime to replace the one I had on my enclosed balcony and it was just the right size. It is well made, very pretty to look at and has a lovely chime when moved by hand. However, much to my great disappointment, I'm still waiting to hear it chime in the wind. The crystal, I think, is too heavy for the chime, even when it's really windy it just gently sways (didn't have a problem with my old chime) and, though the balcony is in full sun all day when it's out, it's only occasionally that the light from the crystal will reflect on the walls. All in all, am disappointed with it but as I said, very pretty to look at which is why I kept it and, who knows, one day it just may chime.

Pretty and dainty
Very small little wind chime but it’s exactly what I was after. I have hung it in my kitchen window and I hear very gentle sounds when there’s a breeze. Very pretty.
