Does the 9400 come with a sharpener?

No mine did not come with a sharpener, but Faber Castell makes a small one that will sharpen these pencils. It has 2 different size holes for the different size leads. It works great.

Any way to retract the exposed lead? And how do you refill? Please and thank you in advance

If you press down firmly on the little silver cap top of pencil, then the claw/clutch opens up and the lead slides out or slides back into shaft depending on if you are holding the pencil upright or upside down. Keep holding the cap down to adjust the lead length to what you want then let go of the cap and the claw closes around the lead again at the size you wanted. When I am done drawing then I press the cap down again and let the lead slide all the way back in to shaft, then let go of the cap and the lead is stored safely inside the shaft until the next time you are drawing. I love the TK9400 and I am not a mechanical pencil person, but I am becoming a TK9400 one.

Is this pencil good for everyday writing?

I’m not sure. I use it for sketching because it doesn’t need frequent sharpening in the field.

Does it come with lead?

It came with one piece of lead, already inside the pencil.
