Arlen Ness18-505 Big Sucker Performance Air Filter Kit

So I think that most of this has been said regarding directions not being as clear as they could be...but anyway...if you have some experience with motorcycle intakes, then you can figure it out pretty quickly. Install was pretty straight forward and I combined with a CV Performance Carb upgrade (rejet, emulsion tube, spring, idle and air screw), SE slip ons, and a set of NGK resistor plugs. 2006 FLST low end and mid range torque improvements were noticeable. Cured off idle cough as well, which was main reason for Stage 1 upgrade (I guess that's what most HD sites call it). Did all labor myself and saved a ton $$$.Gave one less star because one of the "stand-off" bolts didn't seem to be machined as well as the other two and was really difficult to install air cleaner bolt cleanly. After messing with it, I determined that the way the threads were cut was causing them to strip as they accepted the AC bolt. It made it through the initial install but clearly will cause a problem every time I need to remove and clean the filter. It will eventually strip. So...I called Arlen Ness directly and they are sending a new stand-off bolt asap for free...now that's customer service!I read some reviews about this set up being "Made in China", but the filter says Made in USA. When I called Arlen Ness...they were always friendly Americans on the other end of the phone. The customer service alone is worth the purchase, as this is the best $100 stage one intake set up that my research produced!

This air filter kit made a lot of difference in acceleration on my 2007 Harley Roadking. She breathes so much better now, throttle is crisp and smooth, acceleration is more aggressive and I can actually use 6th gear at lower speeds now without it chugging. Don't hesitate or think twice about buying this kit for better performance, buy it and enjoy your bike the way it should be. I highly highly recommend this and would buy it again in a heart beat. The cost of this compared to the buying of stock air filters is way more economical with the added bonus of improved performance from your bike. No more buying stock air filters at $30 a piece, now I just clean the Arlene ness filter, re-oil it and I'm good to go. So for the cost of four stock replacement filters I have a better performing air filter that will last a long long time with proper maintenance. Fast shipping to.

The Pros: Great product, fit perfect and works great. I also changed the spark plugs and wires and you can feel the added horsepower.The Cons: the only issue was that in the description, it is listed as a "Satin, Chrome" finish and in the picture it is shown in chrome. When the item arrived it was not chrome. The only thing that was chrome were the bolts. It wasn't a deal breaker for me so I just kept the item and I'm happy with it, but if it would have given me an option to purchase it in the chrome finish i would have been willing to pay a little more to get the chrome one. I felt it was kinda sneaky that the picture shows a chrome finish and the description say "chrome".The product itself was 5 stars but i deducted one because of the misleading picture and description.

I had a very similar set up.. not sure what brand it was but I wasn’t happy with it so I replaced to this kit and BIG DIFFERENCE on acceleration! Very pleased with this purchase! Install was easy and only took about 15 minutes! Definitely recommend!!!

Installed with Cobra two into one pipe and Cobra fuel management to get my stock 06 softail to get out of it's own way as it was a gutless pig. This is a cheap air cleaner that get's it done. You can use the stock air cleaner cover over it or use an aftermarket cover for it. The filter is good quality...better than the stock and is reusable after cleaning. I am happy with it and it was easy to install. You don't even need to put a cover over it...just like in the picture.

Hard to tell how much a filter helps or doesn't help performance. I added it with a new exhaust and fuel map all at the same time and got a little more power and cooler running engine but who knows how much each piece added to the overall improvement. I've had it on for over a month now and it hasn't leaked so that's something. the fact that as long as you clean it it's good forever alone I think makes it worth the price

Stage 1 fit perfect and works great. I received the item within the arrival time but had to send an email to find out why the item took so long to ship. Otherwise I believe it would have got here late. The package that the product came in was somewhat smashed but the item looks like it fared well. Something to watch for. Anyway, with the FuelPak and the stage 1 the bike runs great.
