Can you verify that this switch is indeed NOT fanless? Can you give an indication/example of how loud the fans actually are?

According to Zyxel datasheet for the GS1900 series, all GS1900 switches are fanless except for GS1900-24HP, GS1900-48 and GS1900-48HP. I have the GS1900-24 and can confirm that it has no fan. (Amazon combines the questions and reviews for the entire series which is confusing can be misleading.)

No. Only the first 24 ports have PoE. This was verified by me when I received the equipment which is why I am returning it to the seller. I also received confirmation from their product manager that "there are no such ports that come 100% PoE only 50% of the switches are". If you look very closely at the image to the right of the ports, you will see the middle line that is highlighted in yellow. Though you can't tell in the image, that line indicates that PoE ports are 1-24. Description and other labels on this page will hopefully be changed to reflect an accurate description.

Is this the new v2 version (gs1200-8hp v2)? how do i know exactly without doubt which version i would be getting?

I have the same question with the addition of what is the difference between the original version and V2? IOW: Do I care?

How can you mount this 24 port in a rack without the ears? Any ideas?

It has the ears. If you don't use them, I would think you need to put the switch on a shelf in the rack.
