Q: What 's the approximate diameter of the slices? How many in a 1 1/2 cup package?

They’re about 3-6 inches in diameter I’d I had to guess. They vary per slice. I got about thirty slices out of it.

Q: About how many slices are in the bag?

I don't want to open the bag until I am ready to use them. It looks like there are 26 of them as closely as I could count them for you.

Q: What makes these not human consumable? Is it a chemical or something in these?

I don't know because that information isn't included on the package. But, they're very firm and hard, so trying to eat one wouldn't be a pleasant experience.

Q: Would these work as a botanical add to soap? Is the diameter per slice greater than 2.5 inches?

Possibly. Some are larger and smaller. You could definitely cut them though & make smaller slices if need be.
