ClosetMaid Cubeicals 12 Cube Storage Shelf Organizer Bookshelf, Stackable, Vertical or Horizontal, Easy Assembly, Dark Cherry Finish

I gave this 5 stars for the ECONOMY of it, but feel I should clarify what this IS and IS NOT. THIS IS VERY BASIC ECONOMY LIGHTWEIGHT STORAGE AT A CHEAP PRICEPOINT. This is NOT the same as the Ikea Kallax or Walmart Better Homes and Gardens level of reinforced sturdiness for holding heavier weighted items like books, nor are the interior cube dimensions compatible with those brands of 13" or 12" fabric cubes. This IS: These shelves are ideal for lighter-weight storage such as baby/toddler clothes or kids toys--- or in our case, the kids wanted LEGO display shelves for their 10x10 base-plate scenes and quick storage of random toys like Hotwheels, etc. When purchasing fabric cubes be sure they are the 10" or 11" dimensions. I found that "Mainstays" collapsible fabric cubes at Walmart fit nicely in here, but even better score was when I found some 11" cubes at our Dollar Tree (bargain!). These ClosetMaid Cubeicals benefit from being anchored into a stud on the wall, rather than being used as stand-alone/free-standing shelves. The 9 cube = 3x3 could be tolerable/"okay" freestanding if you absolutely insist, but I also bought some 1x4 and those must be secured or they sway and wobble pretty noticeably. A few miscellaneous notes: The 5 "shelf backings" arrive with a permanent creased fold down the middle-for shipping, and are made of thin poster-board like material. If this crease bothers you, just buy posterboard and cut your own backs to tack in. Or if you want something thicker, I imagine "foamboard" from the school supply aisle works great if you score it with a box-cutter. When I tacked in the shelf backings, one of my shelves tore/split even though the tack went in straight and precisely where it should have. I chose to use wood glue to repair the piece rather than return the shelves. This was fast and easy to assemble, the instructions were clear. We've had the shelves for two days now, so I may update this later on to report on durability. Why I gave it 5 stars: The shelves fit our current purpose wonderfully, and I love that when I don't require heavy duty weight bearing shelves, there is a very economical option I can snatch up. Eventually I do want the heavy duty, larger 13" cube shelves from a major brand, but for now I appreciated paying less than forty bucks to have a 9 cube = 3x3 shelf, rather than eighty or one twenty bucks for 3x3 from the other brands. Later on, I will pay more to buy some that are textbook sturdy and can do more things. The photos: You will notice I originally had 12" cubes (white with blue petals), and realized I needed the 10 or 11" cubes (beige/gray). Also I did show one photo of my 4 cube storage here, even though this is my review for the 9 cube (3x3).

Sturdy, Spacious, and Simple to Assemble This ClosetMaid 12-cube organizer turned out to be a solid choice for our storage needs. The unit is surprisingly sturdy once put together and can hold a good amount of weight without bowing. I like that it can be positioned vertically or horizontally depending on the space, which makes it versatile for both a living room or a closet. The white finish has a clean, simple look that blends well with different room styles. Assembly was straightforward with clear instructions; it took me about an hour working at a steady pace. All the pieces lined up properly, and I didn’t have any trouble with missing parts. Once set up, the cubes are roomy enough for bins, books, or even folded clothes, and it helps keep things looking tidy instead of cluttered. Something to keep in mind is that, while it’s sturdy, it’s still particleboard — so it’s best for lighter items or evenly distributed weight. I wouldn’t overload it with very heavy objects. Bottom line: A functional, attractive, and easy-to-assemble organizer that provides flexible storage at a reasonable price.

Exactly as shown. It wasn't hard to assemble. It had some chipped corners but that part is hidden. Unfortunately the squares are much smaller than I thought. My boxes didn't fit but will repurpose for something else. The shelves are sturdy.

THIS... is the ClosetMaid 9-Cube organizer and it is a great addition to any room for those that don't want a dresser or like the cubie-style storage. I found that this took me about 30-45 minutes to put together and involved little to no cussing as it was quite easy and straightforward. You can modify it to remove a shelf from a cubie if you want to have a section two tall but you can't do two wide unless you turn it in which you can do two wide but not two tall. Assembly was easy, however, you will need a hammer for the cardboard to go onto the back and an electric drill would speed this process up significantly. Outside of that, you only need a minor working area of about 4 feet by 4 feet. The finished product is also quite nice and fits the amazon basics storage cubes or any 10.5" cube. There are caps to go on the screws so you can cover them up but I like a flush look and left them off. These cubies are also able to hold a decent amount of weight and hold about 30 lbs in one of them every day with zero sag or cracking. In the end, this has been a really nice addition to my bedroom and provides clean, aesthetic storage for my cubies. I think that if you appreciate the color, then the price and value is certainly there. I love this product, and I am certain that if you purchase it, you will share my same thoughts!

This will be my largest of the ClosetMaid Cubeical Units. I own this one (12-cube), one of the (8-cube units, and two of the individual 4-cube units). I was leery purchasing this one (even though the reviews were much better than other similar units and less expensive) since it was going to be free-standing, except for the end which would be adjacent to a bureau. I needed this unit to serve as an additional bookcase for my ever-growing collection of books. However, I dawdled with buying this because I waited too long and the dark cherry cube went out of stock. Nevertheless, the coloring scheme was not why I purchased it. The unit does not, I repeat DOES NOT wobble at all, (even on relatively flush or flat carpeting). My unit did not have any flaws, thankfully. Once you begin putting these units together frequently, you almost "that's almost" never require the instructions. With the exception of joining the two long shelves together, I pretty much did not need the directions since I have enough experience in building these cubeicals. Unlike other feedback regarding cleaning the cubes and the finish peeling off, I did not have that happen. A simple, semi-damp cloth will suffice as long as it does not have any type of harsh chemical on it. I feel it is safe to say by now that the ClosetMaid Cubeicals are one of the best ways to go with tight-space shelving, bookcase additions, or adding an extra shelf for odds-and-ends. Worth every penny, sturdy and easy to build.

I purchased this because I needed more storage in my small room. This is a perfect addition. I absolutely recommend this cube organizer. You can either stand it up or lay it on its side. It was easy for me to put together alone, no help needed. Now in the end when I was hammering the back sides on I somehow missed that the pieces had pre pressed holes for the nails and started off hammering wrong. I missed up a little and slightly damaged it but you can't even tell thank goodness. Make sure you read the instruction a few times and put the pieces together just like it shows. This will make it easy to put it together. There were a few things missing on the instructions like the additional screws you put in on the sides to keep the boards straight in the middle. There are little holes there so I figured it out myself but they may want to add that. All of the parts were there. You can but the draws to put in it, whatever size you want and I may do that in the future but as of right now I like it just the way it is. It gave me lots of room to put stuff. Most of it of course is dog stuff thanks to Charlie but overall it fits well, its not to big but big enough and I really love it! Its a great price and shipped to my front door. I did check the local stores around me and the price was slightly higher there, I would have had to fit it in my small car and still carry it once I got home.

I got this shelf to organize my craft stuff on, and it works perfectly. The instructions were very straightforward and thorough, and assembly took maybe 30-45 minutes. Very easy! Instructions request a hammer and a standard screwdriver, though I opted for a drill and was just gentle when drilling in the screws. The screws are not the best quality, but they get the job done. The color matches what’s pictured, and the material is okay, just about what you’d expect for the price. I’m content with this product for the most part. The reason I rate this three stars is because the screw holes are not recessed, so the screw heads stick out. They include covers for the screw heads, so I am not worried about that on an aesthetic level, but the bottom and the top of the shelf each have a screw right in the middle. Due to this middle screw, which is not recessed, it will cause the shelf to rock back and forth and not sit well on the ground (video included of this.) There is something included to bolt the shelf to the wall, but I still don’t think you should have to bolt it to a wall to support it if you’re not storing anything heavy on it, and even with the bolting, it would not make it sit flat. My partner took his drill and made a recess for the screw himself so we could get it sitting flat, so it’s not a bad shelf if you don’t mind making that adjustment. Just keep that in mind when buying this that you may need to make that small adjustment to make it work! Three stars because I don’t think the customer should have to make such an adjustment to make the product work, especially as I know not everyone may have a drill or the drill bit needed to do that.

This was relatively easy to assemble (assuming you're a visual learner) and it looks great! You can also assemble the squares with "backgrounds" in any pattern that you like. It looks great in my bedroom and saves so much space as a visually pleasing yet functional storage piece The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the material is light...like plywood instead of actual wood. It's not the best quality compared to other furniture I've purchased with a similar design. I have a small 20gal aquarium I was hoping to place on top but I'm not confident that it will hold the weight. However, the compromise in quality is fine with me because the price is unmatched to any competitor. Compared to similar products, I think this is the best deal out there. Shipping was also very fast...I live in California and mine came in about 3 days. Update: Ok I ended up placing a 10 gal fish tank on top, and it holds the weight wonderfully. However, I encountered a different problem that may be worth mentioning. The original filter I installed in the tank began leaking. When the water dripped onto the organizer, it caused the "paint" to curl and shrivel up, revealing ugly, light brown wood underneath. It's kind of like black wallpaper over plywood, and it rippled and chipped away after maybe 20 minutes of water damage. I have since replaced the filter and still have the tank on the dresser, and it's holding up fine. It's been holding the weight for several months with no issues, just a little ugly with a curled paint edge. Of course, most people probably aren't planning to put an aquarium on their dresser. I just wanted to warn people to never get it wet! Other than that, I love this dresser!!

I think quality needs to improve, instructions on the manual could have been better. Once you assesmble it , you cannot dismantle it without demanging the sheet or the product. They can do better.

Wonderful, easy to assemble, brilliant instructions, look good. I fixed them to the wall in case my grandson decided to climb but they are probably sturdy enough for normal use without that in normal circumstances. Wall fixing is included though for safety reasons.

Me parece que fue fácil de armar, el acabado es bonito y de buena apariencia. Lo compré para organizar los juguetes de mi hijo y realmente quedé complacida. Lo recomiendo.

I love this storage unit. I bought two of them and stacked them on top of each other. They are simple with clean lines and classic white. The cubes make for really versatile storage of different kinds of items and can add colourful drawers as well to brighten up the unit and match your decor etc. I put them together on my own so pretty simple to put up. Looked fairly modest when I put them up in size but they held loads of item. Put everything I wanted to put away in there and still had room for future storing. Very happy. Only thing I'd say is that the backings looked fairly flimsy like cardboard but since I never wanted to put them on that didn't bother me, just put it against a wall.
