Barnyard Designs 1.2 Gallon Kitchen Counter Compost Bin with Lid (Mint)

This is one of my favorite Amazon orders in a while. My husband and I cook with a lot of veggies, and recently decided to start a composting pile in our backyard. This bin is just the right size to keep in the kitchen...since it's just two of us, it takes a couple days at a time of cooking before we have to empty it but during that time, the filter and the lid keep any odors in check. With its outer handle, it's portable enough that I can move it around the kitchen easily to wherever I'm prepping dinner. Then, when it is time to empty it, all you do is pull the inner bin out and then give it a good rinse afterwards to clean it. Easy peasy! Plus it looks super cute and blends in really well with my kitchen decor. As a bonus, it comes with three replacement filters for the lid. What's not to love? This is a wonderful product and I only wish I'd ordered it sooner!

This seems to be working out quite nicely and is much better looking than the gallon plastic milk jug that I modified into a refuse keeper with a plastic sack for a lid. The green color of this bucket goes with the subway tile in my kitchen, and I don't really have to hide it in the sink. Tomorrow I empty it into my compost pile in the backyard and start a new collection. No smell! Very nice!

I would say 4 1/2 stars! I don't really use it for composting, so I don't use the inner bucket. We have to separate the food waste in CA. so I use a composable bag inside. I will say, the wire handle wouldn't stay on, so I ended up throwing it away! Some of my friends were given containers to put waste our city did not. Not the cheapest but also not the most expencive, it was however the prettiest!

This container is perfect for food - it sits right next to the sink and no bugs circle because of the filters. I just dump it into my outdoor compost bin every few days. i love it and it is so cute!

I love having this tin compost bin on the counter. I can easily add fruit and veggie scraps when cutting and peeling. I also place all used napkins in the bin. It comes with x3 air purifiers which block the holes, keeping out fruit flies. I empty the bin every day or two and there is no noticeable smell, which is great. I like the pastel mint green color, it goes perfectly with my beach themed kitchen. The size of the counter composter is great, not too big that it takes up space, but also not too small that it has to be emptied several times a day. I especially love the inside removable black pail for taking outside and emptying. I give it a rinse under the garden hose every time I empty, and let it dry before placing back inside, it's super easy to clean. There is a slight issue with the handle on the main product coming out easily, which is a bit frustrating. But it's mostly there for aesthetics, as I don't use it. Overall it is a quality product made with great materials. I recommend this product!

I was excited to receive this item however it arrived late. When I finally got the package and opened it I was disappointed to find there are markings that resemble rust on the front of the body and the lid that is supposed to shield odors doesn’t fit properly. I’m sad to say it didn’t meet my expectations. It’s a very cute compost bin but the defects made my experience not so enjoyable, considering the listed price.

I am new to composting and wanted to try to find an easy way to keep my scraps in my kitchen until I could walk them out to the composter. This is the perfect addition to my kitchen and looks really cute. There are no odors and I’m very impressed by it. It’s easy to pick up the little bucket inside and walk it out to the composter.

Good quality and nice looking canister especially since we’re leaving it on counter.

This item arrived as advertised and is great to have on the counter to put scraps in. Eliminates using plastic or paper bags. Nice design to sit on your counter and has a filter that takes care of odours. Fully recommended.

This compost bin is a nice design and cleans well. The filter in the lid stops any smells. Very useful in any kitchen.

Like the look of this bin is so much nicer than the brown bin supplied by the Council. This was okay, kept on the floor, but the naughty dogs managed to open it! and it didn't look good on worktop. This bin fits in nicely.

Being using this for a month now. Works well. Holds a fair bit. Controls odors fairly well. Anything really smelly must go straight to the compost, this won't stop all smells. I would buy this again.
