Highly regarded JACO portable air compressor
I purchased the JACO compressor listed here for full Amazon price, and I'm not affiliated with the company in any way. I like to review the products that I think are superior, and this JACO portable air compressor certainly qualifies. Why only 4 stars? The compressor itself qualifies for a 5-star rating but I deducted a star because the first unit I received didn't work properly. I actually purchased two of these at the same time, with the idea of giving the second one as a gift. The first one I unboxed ran properly, but didn't pump any air out of the hose. It probably wasn't a major problem, but I didn't want to take anything apart and void the warranty. The second unit worked perfectly from the beginning and has continued to do so for more than two months now. I usually check my car's tire pressure every week or so, adding a pound or two as necessary. This only takes me a minute or so, so I can do all four tires and the spare in about 15 minutes. I did let some air out of one tire when I first tried the compressor to see how long it would take to pump from 20 pounds of air up to the 35 pounds that I run the tires at. It took between 3 and 4 minutes to bring the level up to 38 pounds. The compressor never made any strange noises, slowed down, or got more than a little warm. I was powering the unit from JACO's 120V to 12 volt adapter, but it performs the same whether you power it from house current or from the cigarette lighter. I believe it's recommended to have the car running so as not to discharge the car battery too much, but I've never done that when I'm adding a couple pounds to each tire. I haven't used the adapters that come with the compressor as I have no footballs or flotation devices to pump up. I do use two different tire pressure gauges in addition to the gauge on the compressor, one of which I also purchased from JACO. The gauge on the compressor seems to be pretty accurate. I pump the tire to 38 pounds, shut the compressor off, then unscrew the hose. I lose a pound or so of pressure while unscrewing the hose; that's why I fill above my target value. I then use the JACO tire pressure gauge to bleed exactly the amount needed to bring the pressure back down to 35 pounds. Simple procedure that gives exact results and doesn't require starting and stopping the compressor, and takes no additional time. There's a canvas bag that you can store the compressor and attachments in. The compressor is designed to be portable and kept in the trunk of your car. I might do this on long trips, but normally I leave my compressor in the garage. We've had some single-digit temperatures lately, and the compressor works just fine even though I never bring it into the house to warm up, and the garage is a free-standing unheated building. The unit I have is no more noisy than any other tire compressor I've used; in fact, probably a bit quieter than most. I can't really think of any negatives to talk about; it does exactly what it's supposed to without any muss nor fuss and works despite freezing temperatures. The company appears to be a family affair, and they send a lot of emails making sure that you're happy with your purchase. I didn't want to review this compressor until I'd used it for a while, but now that I have I'm very satisfied. Amazon of course took the first unworking unit back without any complaints. I'll have to buy another one now if I want to give it as a gift, and I'll surely buy another JACO compressor because I'm pretty impressed with the one I have. I can definitely recommend this compressor for the important task of keeping your car tires at the proper pressure. I do recommend their other products as well, especially the "pro style" tire pressure gauge.

Excellent Portable Pump!!
I purchased this unit as a lightning deal. I really didnt know what to expect from the pump other than what I know from my previous no-name pump that served we well for 5 years. My old pump took about 15 minutes to fill a low profile tire at 20 psi to 35 psi. When trying this one out, sadly the unit must have shorted out and did not work. I contacted Jaco and was provided with a replacement unit. Kudos to them for an amazing customer service! And I must say, I am happy with the unit!! I was able to fill up my tire (low profile) from 25 psi to 35 psi in about 2 minutes. The device is well made, hefty but not heavy. The adapter that connects to your tire is a screw on valve that insures the line is not vibrated off the valve stem while filling. The pump comes in a nice little travel bag, not really necessary, but its a nice touch. My only gripe I have with the product is the air gauge. Mine does not seem very accurate. When I released the valve after the unit said it was at 35psi, I checked with my own air gauge and it was near 30 psi. To me, this is very minor since I check the pressure separately anyway. Other than that, this is a fine air pump and would recommend it to anyone who wants a portable air compressor that fills pretty quickly. I have not tried it on a standard size tires, only low profile sport tires.

I especially like the screw connector rather than the rubber compression connector ...
I purchased this pump several months ago and have used it 3 times. It is fairly fast when needing to add 3 or 4 lbs to your tires. The unit is stable and does not jump around when in operation. I especially like the screw connector rather than the rubber compression connector which seem to always present problems. The gauge is not accurate when compared to my digital gauge but this is just a minor problem. Once you have a feel as to how far off the gauge is, simply over inflate a couple lbs and use your digital gauge to dial it in. I would recommend also purchasing the adaptor cable so that you can power it directly from your battery using the alligator clips rather than your cigarette lighter or aux supply socket. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fast and reliable tire inflator for normal or emergency use.

very good quality item and even comes with a really nice ...
This little inflator is very, very good quality item and even comes with a really nice little carry bag. It's incredibly easy to tuck everything back into it. I used it to inflate the tires (starting completely flat) on my horse trailer to 50psi and this little workhorse did it quickly and easily. It did get a bit hot but that didn't bother me as it cooled off quickly sitting on the ground. It has a nice carry handle anyway so you don't get burned. I love the fact that I can screw the inflator onto the valve stem and it came with an assortment of inflator ends. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because you have to be very, very close to both vehicles to use it. Both the cord to the cigarette lighter and the inflator hose seem very, very short to me. I had my car parked right next to the horse trailer and had to run the cord out of the open door to reach and it barely made it. Make the power cord a bit longer and this will be perfect!!Edit: I used this to inflate the tires on my heavy duty 3/4 truck to 70psi as recommended. This pump works very quickly up to 50psi but it took over 20 minutes to get the truck tire pressure up to 70psi.

Lots of Power is a small pump...
Is is a powerful pump in a very small and convenient package.... It uses the lighter plug and the cord it very long with plenty of room to reach all 4 tires... I have an SUV and it was perfect. It's is very powerful and I was so pleased that there was so much power. I put 15+ pounds in each tire(my bad) but it filled it very quickly... Actually faster than my old portable one... The top of the motor was a little hot to the touch but there is a handle in the proper place so it wasn't a problem just a comment... It comes in a small very efficient pouch with a handle for storing and carrying... I'm very pleased...
