The Art of Bob Mackie
K**R
More Than Just Pretty
If you were alive and conscious in 1970s America, you knew about Bob Mackie – because you watched the Carol Burnett show, weekly. The crazy curtain outfit when Carol played Scarlet O’Hara, or the dumb, stacked and stuffed Mrs. Wiggins opposite Tim Conway. It was all Mackie. But Frank reveals what the casual observer doesn’t know about Bob but would want to when considering this book. TV variety shows, Broadway Theatre, musicals, one- woman shows by a hen house of famous divas. Mackie dressed them all. They were his muses as Frank calls them . And all were household names: Cher, Ann Margret, Bernadette Peters, Juliet Prowse – even a man, of sorts, Elton John dressed in his crazy 70s best.Buy it for the lush photography and the quality packaging that make it an excellent coffee table book, but read it for the highly skilled drawings by Mackie, which I wasn’t familiar with before I bought this book, and of course for the energy of Frank’s enthusiastic and knowledgeable prose. Who knew Ethel Merman had a disco album?

Intact, dry and arrived as expected
This book was ordered for an elderly woman I plan to visit and it arrived in plenty of time before I went to visit her

Fabulous book!
Bought this as a gift, but it's a beautifully designed book. Love all the original concept art drawings included and the background info on them.
