Fun Book!
This is one of the most comprehensive books on doodling that I've found. It covers everything from very simple line designs to highly intricate full page designs. Most show you how to start the basic design and then leave you free to fill in the details as you see fit. In this way the book is more about inspiring your inner artist than how to copy someone else's design. There are fantasy flowers, cartoon-like characters, owls and other birds, ideas to create a visual diary, make frames for words or quotes and much more. There are also a few hints on how to work around a drawing that didn't quite work the way you planned.Another plus for this book is that the designs come from numerous different artists. I liked this aspect because it ensures artistic ideas from a variety of perspectives. When a book contains only one artist's work it may have variety, but each design still reflects only that artist's way of seeing and drawing.Every time I pick up the book I see 8-10 more ideas I hope to try! Not only more than enough different designs, but many also have numerous variations on the theme. In other words this book is well worth the price for all that it offers. I have several books on doodle art and this is my absolute favorite!

This book and its sequel are "best in class"
I love to draw, paint and create, but I have no artistic ideas. I enjoy using guides; I may end up going in a different direction, but when faced with a blank page, I need help coming up with ideas. And this book is the best I've ever found (along with the second volume). The ideas are accessible to even the least creative person (me). However, my mother and husband are both artists, and they find inspiration in here, too. I like some of the artists more than others, but each page gives a lovely example, and then detailed instructions for creating your own version or variation.I regularly turn to this book when I want to paint or draw in my journal. I usually go with whatever page I turn to first. Few of the ideas go beyond a page or two, and most can be completed in one sitting, or can be extended into something more intricate, if desired. The ideas are all so flexible that it is almost impossible to "mess up". I can't think of any reason not to suggest this book, as long as one is a fan of the type of art as shown on the cover. And while I don't have kids, I don't see why it wouldn't be appropriate even for an artistic elementary-schooler.

lots of inspiration and varied styles
A very cute book and good length with lots of different doodling styles to choose from. I really like all of the full color pages with step by step tutorials. There are a lot of parts of the book that really aren't my style but that's a given with a compilation book. I was hoping for a lot more of the cute, trendy doodling like the cover, which there is some but not as much as I expected. It does have some interesting techniques and uses of various materials. Overall I think it'll be a great addition to my drawing books and my kids will enjoy it too!

I first bought it for myself, and now again for a friend!
I really love the whimsical, simple and interesting approach to creative doodling offered in this book. In just 1 - 2 pages they show several examples with a short description re: technique on how to approach a variety of doodles. Some are truly representational, others remind me of creative "Right Brain" stimulating exercises, and others have really taught me how to draw something in a way I never knew. I am especially drawn to the unique and whimsical "how to draw a face" sketches. Yet, all of the doodle projects that I've tried so far have really helped me to tap into my creative zone. My friend has a 4 year old who loves to draw and yet she feels very shy and uncomfortable even doodling - so I bought this book to give her some tips and show her how any creative expression really is art, do-able and fun!

I LOVE this book!!!
I LOVE this book even more than I expected. It is super fun and has some great exercises that definitely go beyond doodling, especially for an amateur artist like myself and my kiddos. I haven't done a lot of them yet since it's new but my boys and I did one together, splatter doodles by Gemma Correll. I am excited to try all of them. Some with my boys and some just for my own artistic expression. A few of my favorite artists included in the book, in addition to Correll, are Cori Dantini, Flora Chang, Cynthia Shaffer and so many more. The book itself is in excellent condition, as well.

Inspiration Galore!
This is a wonderfully inspiring book. I took it to my coffee-craft group and my good friend was excited to see so many artists that she knows and follows online already, now she wants this book too!I moderate a ATC (Artist Trading Cards) group and we're always looking for a new thing to do, with this book I have many new ideas to use making cards. Either I will use the exercises as the Monthly card theme or as a Challenge...either way we are going to have fun trying out some of these great ideas!

okay
Not eactly what I expected. This is more of a how to book, not a project or pattern book. Book contains step by step how to with drawing. This is good if you feel any anxiety related to sketching.Recommend checking it out in store first to see if it's what you want.
