Q: Does it have a sliding sleeve that fully retracts?

There is a sleeve that supports the very thin lead 0.5 mm. It is out when using the pencil to write. It does slide back in with the lead. I usually push the top, and then push the lead and sleeve back up into the tip. It does not retract by itself. I suppose I could leave it sticking out, but it would poke holes in my shirt pocket.

Q: There have been two versions of this pencil--is the image shown the exact version of this pencil sent?

Yes, at least it was in 2015. I have the old version and this one from 2015. The plastic on the new version feels a little bit less sturdy than the old one.

Q: Is the Japan version still available?

I am unaware of any other version as I've only been using the Shaker for a couple years.
