It was exactly what I expected. I had already ordered another set with triple-weighted 3.5" pieces, only to find out it was JUST the pieces, so this purchase was just to complete the set I thought I was getting the first time. For those buying it as your only set, be aware that the pieces in this set are not triple-weighted, probably just single weighted, and just a smidge shorter than the chess federation standard I originally bought. But they look and feel just fine without the heavier set to compare them to. Design:The board is also a thicker, heavier neoprene (think wetsuit material) that I think will lay flatter than the typical roll-up board. Comes with carrying bag and checker pieces.

This is the perfect portable set to use at chess tournaments. The bag and set are a nice quality, the color is bright, the mat thickness allows it to be rolled up easily. Great value for the money we spent. After a few months of use at chess tournaments, we have not had any problems with the mat peeling.

Great chess set. Doesn't look like your most pristine set you would find at your local cigar lounge, but it does the job. We Throw it in our duffle bag the long way, and bring on snowboard trips to play during our breaks in the lodge. The thickness of the matt makes it resistant to the wet tables, and the color is easy to see on bright snowy days. For the price, you cannot go wrong. High Value for money

Beautiful chess set. Feels like you’re playing with the best. My 11 year old nephew wanted this set. When it arrived we all fell in love with it.Aside for its great presentation, it’s also easy to use. You roll up the chess board, pack it in the bag, along with the chess pieces and there you go! Unpack and you’re ready to play. Fun, good quality, great value for your money, easy to use. Can’t beat that!

This chess mat is rather nice. For the price, it's amazing. It's served me well over the last year and has valiantly survived a fair amount of lunchtime abuse. The pieces are clear and distinct, aiding in quickly identifying the pieces in defensive structures. When playing in groups, this mat is usually the mat players prefer. The set comes with three separate bags—one for checkers pieces, one for white chess pieces, and one for black chess pieces. I've played both checkers and chess on this mat, and both play fairly well.However, checkers is where my only real complaint lies. The checkers pieces are... lacking. If you've played Checkers, you're familiar with the "king" mechanic. Many checkers sets allow you to either flip your piece over to reveal a crown logo AND/OR have jagged, interlocking edges so you can easily stack two pieces together to create a king. This set has neither of those features—making checkers somewhat annoying to play—and so I am forced to downgrade the grade by one star. If you are considering this set for checkers, I would search elsewhere for more pleasant-to-play-with pieces.But I'm a chess man. So this set wins out overall.

Very nice portable chess set. Sturdy pieces and thick roll up mat. Pretty good size. Comes with extra queen for dark and light.

The media could not be loaded. The moment I took it out the box, I fell in love with it. I was tempted to get a more expensive one initially because I wasn’t sure if the mat was going to be top quality. But wow. This product will last for ever. The mat is heavy? Skid resistant, looks like it may be water resistant too. It’s like cloth material on rubber. Get yours for better description. I guarantee you would love it.
