EXCELLENT COFFEE ALWAYS A GREAT CUP OF BREW!
I was surprised to read that many found this coffee bland. Did they order ground or fresh whole bean? And if whole bean, how was it ground and in what way brewed? It's not just the coffee bean that makes a great cup of coffee, even though that is 80%, how it is brewed is also very very important and when the bean is ground and how it is ground is also integral in making that perfect cup. If you grind your coffee too fine, you will find your cup more strong and bitter; if too course, it will be weaker and yes, more bland. If your coffee maker is a fast brew, those are the best as it forces the water through at a fast pace exacting the taste and caffeine perfectly. If you brew in an older machine where the water tends to sit in the coffee before forcing it through, your coffee will become more bitter and even taste old, even if your beans are fresh. Also, are you using city water or fresh bottled water or purified water? There again, it makes a monumental difference in brewing the perfect cup!!So people, before writing a review on the coffee itself, test yourself and examine how you are brewing. You will be amazed at what you learn and find with each cup!!I have been a taster of coffee beans for years and have traveled to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and South America to experience and taste at its highest. Indeed blessed...so when I write and review coffee beans, I truly do the best and be as honest as I can be taking into account every possibility. So as far as this coffee goes, I have purchased this many times and have never had a bad batch. I found it fresh in both taste and smell. The beans always have had that oily look, which is what one looks for in freshness. Take a bean and crush i, then taste and smell; you will find you can learn a lot from a bean this way.The last time I received this, it was not in the normal packaging but in a plain brown wrapper without all the company info, people complained about this; therefore, the coffee was removed. In all honesty...REALLY??... who cares how the coffee comes or what is delivered in -- whether a can, company paper or a plain brown wrapper. As long as its fresh and meets tasting standards, which this does, does it really matter??!!I've enjoyed this coffee and hope you do too. Sorry to hear that is has been removed due to customer complaints.Amazon, I urge you to bring it back ASAP!!

My new favorite
I’ve been disappointed by most of the coffee I’ve purchased from Amazon. This is the only brand that’s comparable to Inteligentsia, but more affordable. My wife and I agree and will get more once I finish the other bag from these guys. It’s also nice not to have a bag that fights me. It’s 2019 ... you’d think a good bag would be more common. A nice detail. This coffee is worth a try if you like med-to-dark roast. It’s rich without being harsh.

Decent coffee
Not the best coffee for the price but not bad either, I’d buy Jamaican Blue Mountain instead

Delicious
I started with Chocolate Indulgence and then tried Southern Pecan. Now that I grind my own now and then, I decided on these beans. I am not surprised that they are wonderful. As another reviewer said, this is my favorite coffee company. I'm a Texas gal who is proud to say, "I love New York!"

Gorgeous beans that produce a bland brew
I've been trying to find decent coffee on Amazon for a bit now. My parameters are pretty simple: medium to medium-dark roast, whole bean, ideally in 1lb bags but I'll go up to 2.5lb, FRESH, and at or under $12/lb. Bonus points for nice roasty chocolatey notes and low acidity. I like single origin but I would gladly take a blend with a bit of character. This is apparently something of a fool's errand. So let's talk Brooklyn Signature. Packaging has that nice "handmade" feel, though it's properly lined, thankfully. Beans look gorgeous, they have an absolutely wonderful shine to them. Smell is awful: they smell stale and over-roasted. I checked the expiration date, it's 5 months from now. Not sure what their labeling standards are, but I'd guess it's more likely these were roasted 7 months ago (exp = roast date + 12 months) than 1 month ago (exp = roast date + 6 months).Brewed via siphon, taste is underwhelming. It has that roasted-to-the-point-that-it-tastes-like-nothing quality that reminds me of Starbucks. (I don't mean for that comparison to be a positive one.)All in all, these beans make for a better picture than they do a cup of coffee. The current rating of 4.6 is far too high and I considered lowering this review to 2 stars to try to normalize it. They barely scrape into 3 star range because maybe I just got unlucky and got an old bag. I'll use up the rest of this bag, but I won't be buying any more.My coffee rating system...1 star: won't drink what I brewed.2 stars: will drink today, but won't finish the bag.3 stars: will finish the bag, but won't buy again.4 stars: good enough that I'll consider buying more.5 stars: I will buy these beans regularly.

Nice beans
Beans have plenty of oil and coffee is smooth. I use this on my traditional coffee maker and french press. Packaging is cool and makes you look cool in front of friends haha. Overall good coffee for the price

Sadly No Taste
Notes: Citrus, Honey and CocoaIt has been 4 days... I have been dialing my conical burr grinder, have been playing with various water temperature, have been testing from pour over to pavoni to cold brew methods in searching for the above notes. It doesn't matter fine or coarse, hot or cold, cappuccino or cold brew, all I taste is the over burnt beans. The taste is very similar to burnt Starbucks beans. NO TASTE or OVERWHELMING BURNT TASTE! If this is the Brooklyn standard and is being used in coffee shops in NYC, then NYC doesn't know what coffee should taste. This blend of coffee beans is below standard. As for the caffeine content, it is pretty strong. I guess it is made for NYC tweakers. No sleep till Brooklyn! In conclusion, this coffee beans is not what I expected from artisan roaster. I will not recommend this overburnt blend of dark and med roast to my circle of coffee enthusiasts. I wish I can get my money back.
