How long does it stay sticky?

It stays sticky for several weeks, but not sticky enough to keep ants out of my bee hive. The give is stick sticky when i touch it, but ants were gong through it within a couple of days.

Is it affected by rain? Does it lose it's stickiness?

no, it is not affected by rain..we just had 10 inches here in south carolina in the month of may..still sticky and catching yellow flies

Does anyone know why this product has nearly doubled in price in a year, or so? It used to be $6.99 a can.

Can you paint it directly on fruit tree trunks?

Yes, dont see why not. I put on the trunk of a flowering dogwood with no issue. It doest harm the tree just stays on surface and stops insects from climbing up.
