Creamy Tinted Moisturizer – Very Nice
I was disappointed when theBalm discontinued their BalmShelter tinted moisturizer – I really liked it. It was replaced by this formulation – Anne T. Dotes. This tinted moisturizer does not have any sunscreen – the old formula had an SPF of 18, so now I just add a layer of facial sunscreen, which is fine, and actually probably better. I used light-medium color BalmShelter, which seems to translate well to color #22 in Anne T. Dotes. The Anne T. Dotes tinted moisturizer is creamier and thicker than the BalmShelter, but the coverage is still light, dewy, long lasting, smooth and natural – I am 60 years old and that is the look I am going for. Also, the packaging is great – I am able to get every last bit of product out of the tube by simply snipping across with scissors. There is less product for the about the same price, but that seems to be the case for most things these days. I definitely like Anne T. Dotes tinted moisturizer.

Totally Changed the Formula and Wrecked Their Product
Why would they change a product that was a favorite of so many of us? I've been using Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer for over 8 years, and they removed the spf 18, changed the colors, changed the formula, and even changed the name (even though, if one looks for "Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer" - what comes up is "Anne T. Dotes Tinted Moisturizer by the Balm," and all of the reviews for the old product rest under this new name.) In addition, they've added retinols - which I don't want in my moisturizer, since I use prescription retinols. The new texture and color is nothing like the original, either. Why, why, why?

They ruined a great product
This is different than the original balm shelter I’ve been using. The new packaging is half the size, is a different shade (more orange) and does not say it has any sun protection at all. They really messed up a good thing.

It feels gritty
I was looking for "Balm Shelter" which I love, and this came up instead. Ok, I thought, maybe they changed the name. That's not all they changed. "Balm Shelter" was smooth and lovely. This stuff feels like it has fine sand as an ingredient. Not at all pleasant to put on my face. Yuck. I'll never buy anything from this company again.

Perfect formula
I have combination skin so foundation can be a nightmare- flaking in some places and sliding off in othersI also turned 40 and have to finally admit that I have “mature” skinThis tinted moisturizer is great at giving me more of a fresh and natural look, it doesn’t settle into lines and it stays on all day10/10 will buy again
