Amazing indeed! One of the very best mold materials for the home crafter!
Really excellent product for capturing fine details! Please be advised that this is not appropriate for hard clays like sculpey etc. as the super flexibility may cause distortion if you are attempting to pack a hard material into it. That said it works wonderfully with liquid clays as you can bake right in the mold. If using a soft air dry clay please remember that you need to add extra days drying time as the only evaporative surfaces are the ones that are still exposed to the air directly. Improper measuring of the materials will give you a sticky result so it really does help to invest in a little digital scale that does fractional grams. Wear gloves and only mix in containers you consider disposable and please allow good ventilation when mixing as it has quite an odor until fully cured. To avoid air bubbles in your finished mold it really helps to have a little vibration from the bottom before you pour as well as after the piece has been poured piercing the bubbles that come to the surface with a pin. Be advised since this is not a platinum cured silicone is is not meants for contact with skin. Happy sculpting!

I found this easy to use and just got my first mold made
I found this easy to use and just got my first mold made. I make candles and have found some molds difficult to find. Or of a quality that I would sell the end product. So I decided to try making my own. Instructions were easy, I didn't have to learn a whole new hobby to get started and have a finished product. Have made my first mold, an apple I bought from the store and then polyurethaned before trying to make the mold. Came out great, the candle looks exactly like the apple I made it from. Even to the point of the small bruised spot on the apple. Gives the candle a uniqueness. I found some pitting in the candle when made, apparently from air bubbles in the mold. But I think the bubbles in the mold are due more to my inexperience when making the mold, than a product error. You can do one small object with the pound of rubber. I plan on ordering more after writing this review. Very excited!

RTV Works as advertised
RTV Rubber works as expected. Picks up fine detail. Very durable. Definitely sticks to itself - I needed to cut a a part of the bottom of a mold off and glue it to the top to make it easier to use - parting line didn't work as anticipated. Cut off what I wanted and used this to attach to top. Watch out though since this can work against you if you are making a 2 part mold. be sure to use rubber release component. otherwise it will stick together, burying your master in the rubber. I had to start over for one 2 part mold. FYI, PB blaster does NOT work! - guess how I know :) Micomarks sell something but I think it has a shelf life as I put on 3 coats as recommended and still had problems - thats why I tried PB Blaster. next time will use vasoline or maybe even some acrylic paint. it should work. none of the issues are with the RTV, more with the mold maker!

When it works, its a great product but some kits have a hardener included that will not work
I have been a customer for 10 years for this company and the first several kits worked as advertised, and made strong pink colored molds. However my most recent one purchased had a hardener that looked like clear mineral oil (no pink hue) which did not work whatsoever. Even at 50/50 volume ratios and 48hrs of cure time did not result in the silicone hardening. Either its a new formula that is pure garbage or some kind of quality control problem. Lets see if the company will stand by their products and customers.

Great product but only for small castings
Great product and works exactly as described. I'm giving 4-stars only because there really isn't much compound to work with for the price you pay. If your project is a chess piece or something small you'll be fine, but if you have anything medium or larger in size you'll need at least 2 or 3 packages of this product. For me it was not enough, and it was wasted in my attempt due to lack of full coverage.

Product was knew and fresh!
I had bought this product previously in the store where it had been sitting a very long time, which I didn’t notice till I got home and opened the box but still managed to get a successful mold out of it but barely. This time buying from amazon the chemicals where clearly fresh and no seals were broken. Easy to use as long as you know how to measure 1:10 ratio ha. Great for 3D printing! Would recommend buying from amazon because of my first experience in a store.

Made a great, strong cast.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AT LEAST TWICE!! Don't forget gloves! The "base" comes in a wide mouth jar making it very difficult to pour - it's THICK! Like Elmer's glue thick! Runs down the side of the jar. Have on hand a tongue blade, plastic knife, something to scrape the runaway back into the jar. Why they didn"t put this stuff in a measured squeeze bottle, I'll never know. That would make it SO simple to use. Other than that I'd say buy 2, especially if you have a big project. Mine was a 10" round pattern which 1 jar barely covered. Directions say to cover it at least 1/4" deeper than your project. Good advice. Mine came out perfect after a full 24 hr dry time! I would recommend it. Be sure you use newspapers or a plastic bag under your project. Messy, but it works.

Cured too fast
I was super excited to get this since I needed a tin-based silicone, but it became solid within 8 minutes of mixing. I double checked that I was putting in the correct amount of catalyst and tried again and poured quickly after I mixed it... Unfortunately it solidified as I poured the mix. You can see the air bubbles from the bottom. The second picture is the blob tl from the first attempt. The silicone seems like great quality! I think it's just the catalyst that is bad. I would love to try this again but with better catalyst

This was the first (and only) mold making product I've tried and it was super easy to use. I went by measurements because I don't have a scale. It came with two, 1oz cups and a scoop as per the instructions to use for the two parts. I was intimidated to mess it up because of the cost, but it worked out perfectly. I made a few small batches, just wanting to mold small pieces. In the end I made six small 5.75cm x 4cm molds that were 1.75cm deep, and one 6.25cm x 9.75cm that was 1.75cm deep. Those are close approximations and I mention them because I'm always wondering, as a crafter, how much I can make with a product. There's a small amount left in the containers, but it's not enough to use (maybe if I had a scale?) They cured overnight (I left them for about 17 hours) and they were exactly what I expected. Firm, but flexible, a soft, rubber feel, exactly how a mold should behave! I used them (with resin) and WOW the results were incredibly detailed! A couple of pieces I molded were matte, and the rubber picked up on that, the rest were glossy and the mold made glossy pieces. They're easy to get out and I'm looking forward to using them over and over! I'll be buying this again for small pieces I want to re-create.
