Cherne 269948 Plug 4-Inch Kwik 'N Sure

I used this to seal off an old 4 inch cast iron standpipe clean out because the original brass plug and expanded area of the pipe had to be cut out due to it intruding into the footprint of a new dishwasher. It is simple, heavy, and well made and formed a permanent seal inside of the remaining cast iron pipe while still being able to be removed in the future if ever necessary. I used this product because all the other solutions looked cheap in comparison. It slipped into the pipe easily and cranking down on the nut effortlessly expanded the rubber block making a solid seal to sewer gases. Its advertised use seems to be as a test plug for use in pressure testing 4 inch pipes, a job for which it would be well suited.

I needed this plug for a weird foundation drain situation...the old 4" (clay?) drain pipe was no longer working reliably and occasionally backing-up.This thing is heavy/solid/quality, and will be good enough to be a permanent plug.

It did the job as advertised.

I used this to plug a 4" sewer clean out that was cut flush under our pool deck. I added a chain to hold so plug doesn't drop down clean out. This is a quality part that allows you to plug below flush.

Easy to use. Perfect fit for my application.
