Just what I needed
I have been using my MacBook Pro on my lap for quite a while, when it is running its secondary GPU, it can get pretty warm on the bottom. Under moderate workload, it can easily reach up to 107F, and higher under high workload. Even with jeans on, it can get very uncomfortable to hold it as a "lap top".Many of the other options I looked at are much thicker and would tilt the keyboard towards me. I suppose it may work better for most people, I have been used to the position without any tilt, and the 2Koi seems to fit the bill. The product is finely crafted, no sharp or rough edges anywhere. It is slightly larger than my Mac 15" but fit comfortably on my lap. Most importantly, both the Mac and I are happy. The vented design maintain the airflow to the Mac to prevent overheating, and it insulates my thighs from the hot aluminum case. It is a one piece design, no glue to come loose, and it is very light. It is exactly what I am looking for, and I thought the price is very reasonable for what you get.

Works great - better alternative to plastic
I bought this lap desk for my Asus 2 in 1 laptop. My laptop is 13 inches but I bought the 15 inch desk. The cut outs are perfect for circulating airflow. Since the desk is bamboo it's extremely light and easy to carry around. I did notice a smell like some other people but it just smells like glue from making the desk. After a few days it goes away. My only issue with the desk is that I wish you could buy the 15 in with only three cut-outs instead of five. I bought the bigger one because I wanted more space for my hands, couple pens and such. The 13in looked like it would fit a little too well, as in, cover just the laptop. With that said, if you coulr buy the bigger one with less holes, that would be awesome. The way it is now, there are two extra holes on each side of my laptop. If they were solid wood it would be much easier to rest some pens, a granola bar, headphones, or what have you, without your little items falling through the holes. Besides that cosmetic thing, the desk is great and a good price. Ya'll should get one!

Dissipates heat well!
I started using this product as soon as I got it today and have been using it for about 5 hours so far. Comfort wise, I personally don't mind that it doesn't have a cushion in the bottom because eventually the cushion gets too warm for me due to my own body heat. I prefer it cushion less and find it comfortable as is (imagine having a light weight cutting board on your lap).Functionality, I could not be more impressed with how well it dissipates heat from my laptop. I use this mostly for work and sometime I have to run processes that cause my computer to get really hot, but with this board, the heat is minimized and I can comfortably keep the board and laptop on my lap with no fear of it burning my legs. The board itself has more than enough room for my 15' Macbook pro and also will fit my 17' MacBook pro.

Works very well. A little bigger than expected from the nominal sizes (actual size is provided in description)
The '15 inch' version of this works for both of my '17 inch' laptops. It allows proper airflow (most modern laptops seem to have air intake vents on the bottom), and keeps them from sitting directly on my legs or clothes. For the newer of my '17 inch' laptops, this is important, as it tends to run hot no matter what I do with it, and it can really crank up the heat if I make it work hard. It is also helpful if I want to put the machines down on something soft that would ordinarily block the air intakes. The '15 inch' version is a bit wider than both machines, a ThinkPad W700 (nominally '17 inch' but it is a tank and bigger than many '17 inch' laptops I have seen) and a Thinkpad P70 (nominally '17.3 inch' but not as 'tank-like' so actually a bit smaller than the W700 except for width). As far as width goes, though, it is not excessive; more like it is enough to make it easy to put the machine down on this thing cleanly. It could be a half inch narrower without any inconvenience, though. However, the depth is rather more than I expected. Despite the dimension being specified as 12 inches, it seems deeper than the W700's 12.2 inches, and is over an inch deeper than the P70's 10.8 inches. This makes it more difficult to find a computer bag where I can carry it. So far, the case that came with the W700 (the older system!) is the only one that I have found that is roomy enough to carry both the computer and this 'desk' comfortably. For thickness, I think it is a good thickness -- it is thick enough that I do not feel a lot of heat through it from the P70, even under load (though the P70 output airflow itself is hot enough to cause burns, at least this 'desk' avoids direct contact with the bottom of the case and maintains the manufacturer's minimal airflow gap (the thickness of the feet on the laptop). It is thin enough (less than half an inch) that it fits in the extra space in the W700's case between the machine's padded compartment and the front compartment with peripherals (but that arrangement would probably not fit if used with a W700DS).It seems sturdy. While I have not specifically tried to stress it too far, it has taken a little stress without difficulty -- no warping or other clear damage. The construction appears to be similar to normal plywood -- thin layers of wood laminated with grain at right angles to improve rigidity, improve stability, and reduce chance of warping. I'm not sure how much good the holes cut in it do, since the forced air intake vents on both of these laptops end up over the holes that are blocked by my legs, but so far I have not encountered any structural degradation from them. If they really help the airflow, then great, but I have no good way to measure this. The rounded edges make it easier and more comfortable to handle. The finish is not perfectly smooth, and it is not covered with anything like a urethane protective layer. Microfibre cloth can snag on it, and I expect spilling things on it that might stain to cause staining. These days, it seems everybody likes to claim some kind of environmental awareness for this sort of detail (but the still common plastic shrink-wrap makes me wonder). I don't expect to get any splinters or the like from it, but I would be careful sitting it on material that might snag easily on minor surface imperfections. I doubt that any surface stain would cause any degradation to performance, but I would suggest keeping it in a reasonably temperate place that is not overly wet. Anywhere the computer could be used safely is likely good enough. The weight is good. It is light enough that I don't really notice it in the W700's bag (though between the W700, the bag, and the other objects I usually carry, the 'less than 1.5 pounds' added by this is only a marginal increase). Not sure how much lighter it could be and still be as sturdy or do as well for spacing it away from the legs to avoid heat transfer.Mine did smell a bit of 'new bamboo' when I got it, but it was not overpowering. I let it air out for a few days (sitting edge down on some cloth to be sure it would not bleed); the smell diminished to where I have to sniff it intentionally to smell it (and it did not bleed any sap or glue into the cloth). Less smell than a lot of plastic stuff and no sap/resin/glue that I expect from some other plywood types. Just shrink-wrap and a simple paper insert made for reasonably minimalist packaging.I would recommend any purchaser of this to measure the laptop to be used, and then use the measurements given for the 'desks' to decide which model. I have a '15 inch' laptop that would work fine on the '13 inch' version of this, and both of my '17 inch' laptops work well on the '15 inch' version. Also keep in mind the size of this when considering a carrying case or luggage.

Really nice surface that does the job and isnt going to fly off like a drone....
I purchased the 2koi desk for a gaming laptop, many of which get quite hot. Too hot to use as a laptop. I've used a number of laptop cooling pads over the years but this one is probably my new favorite. Active cooling pads are generally gimmicky and a little too bulky. A lot of the time I think the fans and such cause more problems then they solve. This one was actually closest to what I had been looking for. A simple passive surface that was light that captures and adsorbs a lot of the heat but doesn't transfer it back to myself or the machine. And also didn't look like a drone with a bunch of active fans that look and sound ridiculous. I hadn't really thought of a wood surface let alone bamboo but it works great. Anyways this is a really nifty accessory. Its light. Its smooth. It spreads the heat and dissipates it well. I was pleasantly surprised.
