This stuff won't work unless the lawn is wet, then it will stick to weed leaves and kill them. Application on a dry lawn will not work well. There was a rain the night before I applied it. The lawn was not soaking wet, but was very moist between the grass blades. Dandelions are dying and hope to see crabgrass die off soon. You use about half the amount of this for the same application area as Scotts, so you have to be sure you have good even coverage to kill the weeds.Also, dandelions become zombie weeds, still sending out flowers and gobs of seeds even though they are near dead!

Hit my lawn with this after some crabgrass and thistle started to show up amongst the Bermuda. I used a broadcast spreader that was defective and applied too heavily in a small area before it was corrected. The grass did survive but browned a little at the start. Overall the weeds were knocked down and grass greened up well. I will use my drop spreader for a more accurate application next time. The debate over drop vs speedy broadcast rages on but I'll take my time and use the drop spreader.

I watched the grassy weeds die and turn brown over a 2 month period. It was excruciating to watch my lawn turning brown. After 2 months of this I seriously regretted my decision to use this product and just wanted it out of my lawn. I did not exceed the rate of application. Temperatures were moderate and rainfall was good so my grass wasn’t stressed. I won’t be using this product again as there are better products out there that won’t cause my lawn to go brown, will prevent germination of new weeds and will green up my lawn far better. I also don’t care for the 12 week waiting period to reseed.Update: I raked out the dead grass and clippings in the brown areas and the grass I planted last fall is growing now turning my sparse grass green. The product continues to kill weedy grasses and I continue to rake up. I also am not mulching my grass clipping as it intensifies the product action. To be fair I had no broad leaf or clover weeds. It killed some poa that had germinated before it went to seed. I had a small amount of crab grass break through but Pursaline was not affected by it. After a couple of weeks of raking my lawn stopped turning brown in the one area that survived the drought last summer. I didn’t have time to do a kill and reseed so I just reseeded as I thought the surviving grassy area was blue grass. I realize now that the reason it survived was because it was some sort of weed grass. The 5-1 product totally nuked it. I upgraded my rating as the product did what it said it would do to grassy weeds. I took off 1 star because I couldn’t reseed the area for 12 weeks. The mechanism of action for this stuff can be brutal if your lawn is not in good condition. I found out the hard way.

I don't know if I received a defective batch or not but, it only worked in spots and seemed to only kill dandelions and sadly, not all of them. I applied the product to my yard, following the directions to the letter. From mowing my lawn first, to using my spreader and spreading around the perimeter of my yard and then spreading in a grid pattern across the yard. I planned it spreading it when there was no rain for the next 2 days. There were no windy conditions. The temperatures have been in the 60s and 70s. And having used Scott's for the past couple of years, also following directions to the letter and having complete success, I'm no amateur at using these products. However, the results of using this bag were absolutely disappointing. A week after application and the only weeds killed have been some of the dandelions. And it's certainly not preventing anything because there are new dandelions popping up next to dead ones. As far as the other weeds around the dandelions, they are thriving and not bothered at all. So the end result has been that I have wasted money and my time using this product. Now, I will have to spend more money and purchase some turf builder and spend more time spreading it. And as for getting a refund, it seems it would be easier to get a new kidney. I definitely don't recommend this product unless you have the money and time to gamble with. Who knows you may get a bag that works and actually kills your weeds?

After 10 days lawn beginning to green up, however, no impact yet on weeds.Terrible smell after application. At 10 days smell is just beginning to dissipate.Won't purchase again.
