First receiver was defective
"The receiver that we received was defective. It would only hold a charge for a couple of days. I spoke to the company which shipped us the receiver and they indicated that they would get us a new collar within a couple of days. We returned the defective item but it took the company 2 weeks to process and ship out a new collar. Meanwhile my dog was constantly leaving the yard."

Keep your dog at home
the whole system is great and to be able to get a new collar on Amazon for cheaper is even better! It works great to keep our dog in our yard.

A Company Taking Advantage of the Consumer -- My Opinion.
I bought this system three years ago and the entire system cost under $300. The collar that they sent didn't work and after about an 1 1/2 on the phone with the technician they said that my only recourse was to BUY a new collar that, at the time was $150.00 simply because I wasn't able to install it within 30 days of purchase. After a very heated argument where I pointed out that it was clearly a defective collar because everything else in the system was working fine-- this was AFTER going through all the trouble shooting tests with the technician. Now only three years later the battery isn't working so I take it to home depot to replace the battery and guess what? It's deliberately designed so that you CANNOT replace the battery. You MUST buy a new Ultrasmart Collar that alone costs $300 -- $400-- it's absurd. Companies should not be able to TRICK customers into purchasing product just so the company can take advantage of them at a later date. You can't even buy the Innotek replacement collar from Innotek which suggest that they could possibly be discontinued and explains why a single collar costs so much more than the system itself. If you can't replace the batteries yourself, I wouldn't buy this product. I'm completely disappointed in this product.

Good product but no longer made
These collars are great and work great. Keep in mind that since Innotek was purchased by PetSafe, it is no longer being produced. You can no longer buy just replacement collars, unless you're willing to pay through the nose like this one. I used to be able to just purchase just a yard (fence) collar for around $100. That's no longer the case. The training transmitter requires specialty batteries. I have switched to a fully rechargeable training collar system, transmitter and collar! Then I just use the yard collars for when they are outdoors doing their business.

One of the worst experiences I hav had w product and company I hav had in 40 years.Built as cheaply as possible, written installation instructions did not include transmitter had to b well away from anything w electric or liable to go off randomly in house.plastic housing around pin that holds strap broke after 6 mos on dog needing replaced which put me on 2mos ordeal w petsafe co in which over dozen calls were given different answer ,on every call, wrong products shipped,my expense to return.General attitude "too bad",happy sell u something new.cheap flags break if touched ,cheap wire needs replaced w heavier gauge.collar large irritates dog seemingly w light use.I could go on but tired of feeling pissed.I notice u can't give negative rating so I hav to giv one star

find different product
These collars simply do not last. Expect to pay another couple hundred bucks every 8-10 months. Service rep says, " the collar only needs to be charged once a month, or the battery burns up" Okay, service rep I applied this to the last 5 replacement collars over the course of five years. adn guess what no matter how I cahrge them some internal part comes undone and it heard rattling around. I am sure this has more to do with quality and workmanship than your suggested charging periods. Bottom line potential consumer find a different product.
