This USB 3 extension cable offers decent performance
I was curious what bandwidth the Amazon Basics USB-A 3.0 Extension Cable, 4.8Gbps High-Speed, Male to Female Gold-Plated Connectors, 3.3 Foot, Black cable might offer with a high speed Flash Drive. I connected the TEAMGROUP X1 MAX Drive to a MacBook Pro using this USB 3.1 extension cable and a simple USB3 to USB-C male adapter. This combination offered 756MB/s WRITE and 940MB/s READ performance.When you have a high performance USB Flash Drive that runs HOT it helps to mount it on an extension cable. This does two things. 1. It keeps the heat away from the computer and 2. It can offer the FLASH drive more airflow around it for cooler operation. I only wish they offered this Amazon Basic 3' cable in a one foot length. Some other "USB 3" cables I measured were limited to 35MB/s for WRITE. That's a nonstarter. The 756MB/s performance offered by this cable is definitely a step up.
