I just received my new bulb and although they are suppose to be replaced every year I have been using the original one for over seven years, which may be why I notice a musty smell in the house when I first come home after a week away. Hopefully the new bulb will make a difference. The original metal oxidation chamber portion of the system should be good for another ten years I think. This replacement bulb had a thicker base than the original one so I had to dig through my junk and find 2-#6 x 1 1/2" screws to replace the original 1" screws. Pictures are of the old bulb with thinner base.
