Big Bend National Park Map (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map, 225)

Son travels Big Bend often and camps in remote places. Said this map was unlike any other he had seen. Was a great stocking stuffer Christmas surprise!

This map has been constructed well, has a significant amount of detail, and will wear well. All in all, a very high quality map that will come in useful when in the National Park.

Helped me plan out the inside routes but not much else around the area.

Looking forward to using this in the field more.

I had my trail app all ready to go on my phone as I embarked alone on the 12.5-mile hike. "Just in case" I brought this map. I don't know why, but my phone battery drained really, really fast, forcing me to turn the phone off about a third of the way through the hike. I relied heavily on this map for the rest of the walk. It is highly accurate and easy to read. I recommend it!

My family has owned land in Terlingua and been around the Big Bend Park area since 1969 and I try to get down there at least once a year. I know the area, but there are still things that surprise and amaze me every time I go. Having a current and accurate map in hand is an absolute must.This one is really good. It lists the different trails and roads and elevations in easy to understand formats. It's water/sweat proof and tear resistant so it will survive the trail in a pack or a pocket. It will also survive being tucked away in the truck until next year.One thing that first timers to Big Bend must understand is that you cannot overestimate the danger of the Chihuahuan Desert climate and terrain. Don't expect to find a gas station, have cell service, roadside assistance, or any facilities every five-ten-fifty miles out there. You can end up stranded with an overheated car or flat tire in 110 degrees and not see another person for 12 or more hours on a main road at certain times of year. Take abundant water, real physical maps, a real compass, a real first aid kit, a snake bite kit, and know how to change a tire yourself or stay home. Respect the land and be awed by it's beauty and majesty.

shows roads throughout the park. a must have for travel, less likely to get lost. let a ranger know the route your taking. take extra water, and take loads of pictures. will help you stay safe, and be able to see geology wonders, that you wouldn't have seen.

This is a MAP, it is great! It works well with a compass, light pack, and water. The map is waterproof, however in this dry climate I would not want to waste any water to test this out. The Chicos are beautiful and amazing. The map has to be used with a compass or educated person. You have to interpret the topo lines, which means you need to be educated about map and compass skills. The map will not save your life. The map will not cook you dinner. The map will not keep you warm. But the map will help you when you plan, hike, or even go to mexico. I would give the map 5 stars, I would give it 6 stars since it came pre-folded.
