This is our second brand of Ice Maker. The first one lasted about a year so we're giving this brand a try. lt is performing great. It's quite, makes ice fast, and easy to get the ice out of it to store the cubes in our freezer until we need them. This model gives an audible beep when the tray is full which is nice so it doesn't melt back into the water reservoir. So far we are completely happy with this model.

So far so good! We are on month 2 and so far it works great. As other reviews mention, the biggest drawback on this unit is that the ice begins melting pretty quick and comes out pretty wet....but if you stay on top of it....it's a good machine!UPDATE...It started beeping and erroring....ice that was made was thin and small....then it died....now it won't do anything bit beep.....and to the trash it went!

I was looking for a way to supplement our ice production since we are old school and still have ice cube trays. I wanted to simplify the process and this sounded like a possible solution. It produces ice, but the surface of the cube is wet and will clump together when added to the ice bucket we keep in the freezer. Now, before I dump the cubes into the bucket, I put them in a single layer on a plastic plate that I use to "hard freeze" the cubes. This seems to resolve the clumping issue, but does require a bit more ice management effort. I have owned this machine for a week, and do not miss the tray filling and cracking of the old days..

Some things are not apparent when shopping for these units. They make ice, they don't "keep" it. The ice is put into a hopper after it is made and the hopper is not refrigerated. If you want to keep the ice you have to put it into a separate freezer. If you have guests and are using the ice as it is made this is not necessary. If you do not remove the ice to a freezer or use it, it will melt. It would essentially keep making the same water into ice if you don't remove it. The ice is a wet product and when you are going to put it into a freezer it helps to shake as much of the loose water off of it as possible. It is also helpful to keep breaking the ice up as you are adding more wet ice or you will end up with it stuck together. The machine makes ice at a decent pace, I just run it every few days and fill a container in the freezer.

When the ice maker quit in fridge freezer had to start buying bags of ice....and boy that was adding up, So checked into table top ice makers.This ice maker is fantastic......keeps me in ice and makes up bags of ice for him for the day.About every 10 mins ice drops, music to my glass lolI like my ice water, etc...its been so hot in GA this year, i have been going thru the ice...but this machine keeps up.

Had a different brand, larger ice maker that had three cube size options and worked extremely well for three years until it unfortunately broke. Bought this less expensive, smaller unit based on good reviews from other users. Every time I use this ice maker, the whole unit gets overfilled and jams up the tray with ice cubes getting stuck under tray mechanism, and I fear it will just break the tray or linkage before long. Ice cubes almost never come in contact with the basket full sensor, so the unit continues to make more ice than the basket can hold, jamming everything up with the overflow.

This is my first portable ice maker from Della. My last one from another company (now out of business) lasted 3 years, longer than my new refrigerator's built in ice maker. After reviewing 8 others here on Amazon, all having similar specs and reviews I chose this one for cosmetic reasons, having a clean design and small foot print.After a week of making ice the machine kicks out product as advertised and is quieter than my last ice maker. When used on a tile counter top any ice maker's noise is amplified. When used in a vented kitchen cabinet the noise is similar to my refrigerator. It lacks controls to size the ice, but I found my last one while having the controls did little to change the size of the ice. Ice from this machine is the same size produced by my last ice maker.I would recommend this product to anyone looking at portable ice makers for the first time as well as those who might have experienced problems with another brand, in the past. I personally prefer round "soft ice" created by these portable ice makers over the normal half-moon OEM alternative. Della should make a replacement kit for failed kitchen refrigerator ice makers.

Great ice maker! We were always fighting over the ice from our freezer because that didn't make it fast enough to keep up with our needs; this ice maker makes nine small ice cubes in minutes.
