I bought this for my daughter and it is exactly as advertized. I do not write many reviews, but I decided to write this one because I think that one of the two star reviews gives incorrect information about the product, and I think readers deserve more accurate information. In that review the person complains that the product is not truly made of stainless steel and insists that true stainless steel is magnetic. The fact is that 304 food grade stainless steel is NOT normally magnetic, (check it out for yourself) and should not be expected to be attracted to a magnet. This product certainly appears to be stainless steel to me and also has a very polished look and feel. Another complaint the reviewer had was that the tenderizer has no weight to it. In fact this tenderizer is a little heavier than the average tenderizer and weighs in at exactly the weight advertized. sure, you can get heavier ones, but all this is made for is to tenderize meat, and it should be quite adequate for that purpose. If you want to break concrete, get a bigger hammer. My guess is that if the prior reviewer had known more about stainless steel she would have given it a higher rating. If you want it to stick to a magnet, grade 304 stainless steel is not for you. This is a very nice product and if you like its appearance, the fact that it is stainless steel, that it is of normal weight for a tenderizer, and are OK with its price point, you shoud not hesitate to buy it.

Well made and works perfectly

My last meat macerator was wood, and as you'd expect, it couldn't handle the few years of bi-weekly use I expected from it. The wood split. The head came off the shaft. It was a source of frustration and disappointment. I felt the need to sever ties with it and didn't look back. This time around would be different. I love it so much, I've found myself reaching for it in situations that I'd have never thought of with my previous tenderizer. Sure, it's pricier than other options out there, but this is a nicely weighted, well balanced piece of essential equipment that's not going to let you down and leave you wanting for more. It leaves you satisfied and reaching for it continually. You'll find yourself looking for reasons to slide your meat between pieces of silky parchment and have your way with it. Step out of your comfort zone, crush garlic. Get creative, use it on unfamiliar proteins. Allow it to make you feel adventurous and slightly naughty in your newfound unconventionality. This mallet is certainly metal and weight is accurate. It felt surprisingly light for the weight in description and i've inclunded verification of weight. It's hollow and makes a noise when used/shaken like something is inside of it. Second picture was after a stress test running a chisel through 6 inch block of ice and smashing ice cubes. I know that's the not the purpose of this mallet but I wanted to know how well it would hold up. Not well, but that was expected. It feels light because the weight is likely distributed evenly across the mallet. That means force at the top is likely less than what you would expect. This can be a bonus for meat if you have difficulty using other mallets because you're heavy handed or have trouble holding objects with an "awkward" weight. 4 stars because I would prefer a solid construction with wide hammering portions and light handle. IMO its a bit overpriced at $30 but I could see people prefering this over what I'm looking for.

Good product came as described has good weight for tenderizing meat

Works well. I used it first inside a large metal tea canister that had a dent. Couldn't find a hammer, so I tried the meat tenderizer! It fixed the dent so you never knew it was there! This is a gorgeous, high shine, metal tenderizer. Looks beautiful just hanging around!! We'll worth the money.
