Summer Days and Nights

This is a really nice book with lovely watercolor pictures throughout. The rhymes and pictures really depict summer through a child's eyes. There are just enough words on each page to keep the interest of a 4 year old as he scans the pictures for familiar summer themes. I found the book to be a relaxing and soothing read for my grandson!!

Perfect book for introducing summer to my students!

This is a super cute book. As an SLP, I've used it with preschoolers and younger elementary age kiddos. You can talk about common summertime activities and also work on simple predictions.

What a nice book for summer. My only complaint is the artwork is a bit fuzzy edged - meaning the edges are not outlined so at times its hard to focus on what is drawn. I love that the girl is Asian (like Chinese/Korean/Japanese in appearance) which gives nice diversity to a children's library. Overall, I still like the autumn book best.

This magical book tells the story of a little girl experiencing a beautiful summer day from the moment she wakes up until the goes to sleep at night. I love the size of the book, the illustrations are wonderfully simple yet full of enough details to keep my 2 year old interested, and the story is told in gently rhyming verse. Reading this book is like experiencing a summer day as a child all over again-where the world was full of wonder and magic and things to witness and explore. I particularly like how the author includes some time outdoors in the evening-most children's books end when the sun goes down but this one continues on so the child can experience an owl, the moonlight, and shadows. I look forward to Yee's other books.
