Pacific Rim Aftermath

Gorgeous art, compelling story, great characters
Fans of Pacific Rim will love this beautifully illustrated, action-packed, and compelling graphic novel. A familiar character from the movie appears and overall the quality is exceptional. I found myself wishing for more when it was over but, based on the quality of the art and durability of the book, I would say it was a great value.

Pacific Rim Aftermath - lingua inglese

Recommending only for Pacific Rim Collectors/Fanatics
I own some other Pacific Rim comics/graphic novels to include Tales From Year Zero and Tales From the Drift. This product may be bigger and more extensive but it feels weaker than the others in story telling and quality in more ways than one.The biggest problem, THE PAGES WERE INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN AND BACKWARDS! I have to flip this baby over just to read it.....like how does something like that make it past quality control at the production facility? Really guys?Getting that out of the way, the story is kind of messy. It's nice to see Hannibal Chow again and the addition of rogue Jaeger/Kaiju tech in the underworld is an expected advancement of the extended universe. Other than that though, the story jumps around a lot and the motivation/development of the characters is kind of wonky. The artwork is hard to follow too. I'm not sure how that's possible in a still artistic representation on a piece of paper but they accomplished it. Many, many panels and pages are absolutely chock full of really busy close up shots that make it difficult to distinguish what's going on as well as making it difficult to appreciate shots of you know...giant monsters and giant mechs to combat them. The full on sets that could be filled with awesome shots of giant battles between the 2 are few and far between. So the story is meh, the artwork is meh, and the paper was reverse installed into the spine of the book. It goes onto my nerd shelf along with all my other favorite products but it doesn't really deserve to be there. Too bad too, the Pacific Rim Universe deserves better. If this had been my first extended Universe purchase it would likely have been my last. If it weren't for the fact that I'm attempting a comprehensive collection of collectibles and reading materials for Pacific Rim this would for sure be a return product.
