Good book
"Madame Burova " by Ruth Hogan was a surprise buy . I saw the recommendation while browsing amazon and it was on sale and so I bought it . The book was quite thick ( 300 + pages ) and it was printed in a biggish font , so it seemed like it's going to be an easy fun read.As I started reading , Ruth Hogan's writing style reminded me of my favorite Lithuanian writer's Jurga's Ivanauskaite's style and I was pleased . The more I read though , the more confusing it got as there were many characters in the book and some events took place in 1973 and some - now.I thought : " What the heck ?! " and continued reading . So , I was in a puzzled state up to about 150th page but it started to become interesting as that's when I realized that the events of 1973 and now were one story ( how stupid of me ) .Then 150th page onwards it was very interesting and seemed like a " good book " and a " good story " and I feel like I had a lot of fun and learned a lot from it . I'd recommend everyone who's interested in a bit of a contemporary read full of people and relationships . Although it was fun though , it discussed some serious issues like racism , homophobia , gender equality issues and animal abuse/rescue .

Enjoyable Read
Madame Burova by Ruth HoganMy rating🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book because it isn’t something I would usually read. But I loved it, I couldn’t put it down and finished it in less than a week.I found this book extremely enjoyable and very well written with its lovable characters and an array of emotions throughout the book. My heart went out to Billie when she went on the search to find out about her birth mother, but at the same time I really felt for Madame Burova for having the burden of this secret on her shoulders. I absolutely love madame Burova’s character, she has a very kind, caring natureThroughout the book the story led me to believe that Madame Burova and Cillian were Billie’s parents but you don’t find out until the end of the book. The book has a mixture of emotions with plenty of laugh out loud moments and moments that made your heat go out to all involved.I loved Treasure her suffered terrible bullying at school and was too afraid to tell anyone about it, the book followed him from a young boy right through to a man. Madame Burova always thought fondly of him and I love how him and Billie became friends just like Madame Burova had been friends with treasures mum.I absolutely love the audio narration of this book, Nina Wadia was brilliant and reading the book and bringing each character alive in such a unique way, she made me laugh out loud, feel sad, all while enjoying such a brilliantly written book

Beautifully written from the heart with addes quirkiness and humour
I always love Ruth's book and this especially hits home after the year we all have had. It's uplifting and joyous and so emotive, it will make you shed a tear remebering your own past and then laugh out loud at other times. I love the reminiscing of the 70's, my era to present day and all the characters are so colourful , even oif your unsure of them ag first, they win you over. I lost my youngest Brother a while back and I fell out of love with reading and listening to music. It's a grief thing apparantly . One day I picked up one of Ruth Hogan's boks and i fell in love with reading all over again. And having had loss in her own life whilst writing this one made it incredibly brave of her.. Well done for another classy book from a Classy Author who NEVER lets you down...I loved it so much I am reading it again.Highly recommendedto uplift with a cuppa of your choice.
