do I need spare sharpening wheels?

I bought mine 3 yrs ago. I do need a replacement honing wheel. Have not been able to find one yet.

I ruined my knife. Cutting edge looks bent? no longer sharp. what did I do wrong? did I put it too far into the sharpening space-- It got stuck twice.tx

I have no idea what would have caused it to get "Stuck" the wheels should stop turning long before the knife would stick. All you are really needing to do is guide the knife edge along the turning stone in a gentle slow manner. I use mine in a restaurant environment and while it doesn't quite give the "new" edge, It does a pretty good job.

Will it sharpen scissors

Depends on the thickness of the blade of the scissors. If it's thin enough to fit into even the wide slot, then you should be good to go.

Is the angle adjustable?

No it is not and not suitable for Japanese style knives because the have different cutting angles.
