Gute Impulse

A must-read for journal writers and facilitators of journal writing
This book was phenomenal! I found it very useful. I've been journal writing for over 50 years and developed some helpful techniques. From my journal and blogs, I crafted, then published a memoir. Since the publication, I've come out as an ex-mental patient after 40 years of denial and more recently became involved in peer support. This book has been an enormous aid in crafting a workshop for voice hearers and peer workers. Although it is not oriented specifically towards a one time experience, I was still able to glean some valuable tips. For example, it suggests not using free-flow writing, but more structured prompts at first in a group. I chose some prompts she gave to use with voice hearers that may be less triggering. And the part about feedback loops after the writing exercise was new and helpful for me to incorporate. This book is a must-read for anyone involved in journal writing, and especially for those who facilitate groups on the process.
