My husband has loved this artwork for ever and I brought him the book as a gift. It is an incredibly beautiful and well-made book. It is big so won't fit on the bookshelf easily but will be the pride of our coffee table!

Spectacular artistry and craftsmanship...excellent packaging and prompt delivery.

The book itself is a work of art. It resides in a firm folded protective cover that is open on the ends rather than being a fully enclosed box. Releasing the retainer hasps from their loops enforces a pause before looking at the book, just enough time to shift to a contemplative state of mind appropriate to the artwork inside. Delightfully, the protective enclosure has good sized examples of the wood-prints on each surface. As a bonus, fully unfolding the cover reveals an unexpected 38 by 17.5-inch print of Mt. Fuji on the entire inner side. The book pages are bound as loops with blank paper between the front and back of each page. No ink can soak through to the other side during printing. Having large pages with many full-page illustrations allows easy examination of details in the pictures. Having examples of color variations printed in the last part of the book provides another level of learning and appreciation. As others have mentioned, the size and soft covers require use of a table to look at the pages – this is not a book to hold in your lap. Even so, it is a pleasure to enjoy, and easily worth the purchase price.

Well worth the price

This is a beautiful book with great color, height quality large copies of Hokusai’s wood block prints. The book is put together in an old world way. I would recommend enjoying the book on a table to provide a stable surface for the book. This is a once in a lifetime book and worth the money.

This is an essential collection of reproductions of the justly famed woodblock prints by the brilliant Japanese artist Hokusai (1760–1849). The reproductions are accompanied by a full commentary on their character and artistic significance, along with introductions. The 36 prints are beautifully presented in a box, within which the prints are bound in paper. Hokusai had profound influence in the West, particularly on the development of impressionism, and it's easy to see why: the woodblock artists showed the way to free painting from the traditional constraints of perspective and viewpoint.

Book delivered on schedule in perfect condition

It took me 3 attempts to get a pristine copy of this beautiful book. Additionally, it took considerable effort and quite a while to figure out how to reach telephone help from online choices. However, the help was excellent although the final help required reordering with an Amazon gift certificate, a process that was not straight forward although it worked.

If you love ukiyo-e, you will most likely end up purchasing this book. The quality of the prints is exceptional, the closest you'll ever get to the real thing.

This is probably the ultimate edition of the classic woodprints of Hokusai - I heard that the owner of Taschen Verlag is a huge fan of classic japanese woodprints and this edition confirms it! Fantastic print and cover in silk, prints on double highest quality paper, japanese binding in a beautiful box ... wonderful!

Credo che queste due parole da sole individuino un dei migliori connubi possibili tra editore e artista. Il risultato è un libro che non farà minimamente rimpiangere aver lasciato il tablet o l'ebook reader nel cassetto e permetterà di apprezzare (o ri-apprezzare, per chi è meno giovane) il piacere di "girare le pagine".Il prezzo non è basso in assoluto, ma la qualità non si discute e come nel video di presentazione su Amazon, viene davvero voglia di usare i guanti in cotone per non "rovinare" le pagine.
