Grey Pneumatic(1311S) 1/2" Drive 11-Piece 8-Point Standard Socket Set

I needed to do some work that involved removing a LOT of square headed pipe plugs. Basically, I needed to remove about 60 or 70 of them for an irrigation project. I already had a 1/2 drive impact gun, and a guy I know who does similar work said an impact and 8 point socket would greatly speed up removal of the plugs. I needed 3 or4different sizes, and it was easier (and not mubh more expensive) to just get this whole set, than the individual ones I needed. Added bonus was these came in a nice plastic case to keep them in. Used a few of them pretty heavy for a day or two, and they still look like new. Not something I'll use often, but they were a great help for the 4 sided plugs. I tried one with a regular 12 point socket, and wound up rounding off the corners, and having to use a pipewrench, so they sure beat the alternative.

I use this tool as a professional and it is decent for the price. If items in my toolbox get "borrowed" on the no return basis it's easily replaced

This is supposed to be a DEEP socket set. Unfortunately, most of the deepness is wasted on non-functional metal. Comparing this with a Craftsman standard 8-point socket set I purchased in the 1990's the socket points, that is the part of the socket which actually grabs the fastener is deeper on the Craftsman standard than on the Grey deep. Basically, the Grey's 8 points are only a small fraction of the actual socket body. For this reason the product gets a C- from me! That having been said they do the job but had I known the 8-points were so shallow I would have opted for the standard depth.

Just what I needed!Update: I have now had these sockets for a few months. I am very pleased with the quality of the material. They have held up very well to the Milwaukee Impact that I use at work. I will definitely be buying more GP tools in the near future. I was also please with the quick shipping.

only use 3 different sizes mainly but haven't had any problems, mainly use the 5-8 socket the most for diff. fill plugs to check and fill and no problems work just as good as the matco brand just you get the whole set instead of one socket and get the others for different diffs and the old bigger tranny plugs,,
