Yes, there will be movement. Its not the type of stand that's suited for working on. Its really designed for watching video. The type of task that you interact with the tablet and then just watch and or read from it. However, for that task, it really is better than the bendy type that's also for sale on amazon.

The holder has two clips/platforms, top and bottom. They are spring loaded and can be separated by up to 220mm The clips/platforms themselves are 165mm wide by 12mm deep. There is no restriction to the width of the device being held apart from commom sense I use it to hold a Kindle but it would also accomodate a smalliPad All dimensions are approximate

will this hold a 12.9 ipad pro?

Although I have the 11-inch iPad the holding clamps open another couple of inches so it should definitely hold the 12.9 inch version easily.
