Works as advertised!!!
Works very well. Two things that I liked about this product is smell of oil, especially if the cast iron is still warm when applied. Also it's clear which helps when wiping excess oil off. Being clear helps in seeing rust on the cloth or paper towel I will be buying more when I use this bottle. Great product.

pure stuff works
This has become my choice for treating my wood cutting boards. It really is excellent. No petroleum byproducts. Which of course mineral oil has.

Just what my iron pans needed. I’ll never be without this oil.
I wish I had this many years ago. It works beautifully on my 80 year old iron pan. It has no taste, does its job and you need very little. My iron pan had been abused with Brillo soap pads etc. This oil brought the pan back to life.

Helps put a nice seasoning on your cast iron cookware
I guess it didn't click when reading the product description how small this bottle is. When I opened the box and saw how little it was, the first thing I said was "WTH? What a ripoff!" I admit I was pretty ticked off but decided I would give it a try anyway because we'd come across a stash of cast iron cookware that was in a moving box which had been mismarked a couple of moves ago by military movers during one of our base transfers. We finally got around to opening the box (which was labeled MISC PLANTING ITEMS....go figure), the pots and pans were dried out and needed to be re-seasoned.Everything was given a good scrub and then we used this oil to re-season them. Wow, what a difference a good oil makes. Once done in the oven, the cast iron looked brand new. There wasn't any off or burning oil smell, no greasy residue - just a set of great looking cast iron cookware. Since their cleaning and re-seasoning with this Caron & Doucet oil, these cast iron pots and skillets get constant use. We haven't run across any problems with aftertaste, odors, or abnormal food stickage. All it takes is a very small amount to fully coat a cleaned skillet or pot. We've been using this little bottle for almost a month now and still have 3/4 of it left.Gotta admit I am impressed with this product now that I'm over the sticker shock. One improvement I wish they would make would be to include a spray top. After misjudging how much oil to use on the first couple items, I found a empty metal spray bottle that was purchased empty for some craft project but never used and luckily the spray cap fit this bottle perfectly. Being able to simply spritz the cast iron surface then wipe it down is quicker and easier and can help the oil last longer since it is a lot easier to control how much you use.If I had realized how small this bottle was before clicking the "Buy it Now" button, I probably wouldn't have purchased it thinking It was too expensive and would have then wasted time looking at similar products on Amazon and other sellers as well as instructions on doing this with other oils. It IS pricey, but some of the other DIY methods we've tried on our cast iron cookware haven't had results as good as we got with this product or the smell was awful when the oil used went rancid on the cookware. But, I am glad I wasn't paying attention as this turned out to be a pretty darn good product. I did deduct a start for not having a spray top and for the price which could come down a couple bucks.

Great oil
This is my first time using this brand of oil to season cast iron pots. So far, it does great. A little is all it took for my 5 gallon pot. It goes on easy and gives a good coat to the pot. It will be a while before I use it again, we made chili in it. But so far, so good. A little goes a long way. I will check later on to see how it is holding up. I don't think it will be rancid because coconut oil does not turn bad like vegetable oil normally does. 2 thumbs up.

The Real Deal
This is my second bottle of this product, although I'm not quite done with the first bottle. So far it's lasted 6 months, my guess is it will last another month. I use it on my cast iron pans virtually every day. So don't be put off by the price. A little goes a long way.Until finding the Caron & Soucet Cast Iron Oil I was unable to get a satisfactory seasoning (why do they call it seasoning, when you don't want it to season your foods??) on my cast iron pans. In fact, after I bought a lot of cast iron pans when I got an induction range, I ended up not using them because I just couldn't get the whole seasoning process to work for me.This year I decided I would get serious about using my pans as the large non-cast iron saute pan I bought was not working out well.Here's what I do and what role the Caron & Doucet oil plays.Assuming the pan is already seasoned...1. I pour some water in the pan after I use it, while I'm doing other dishes, just to soften up any food in the pan.2. When my sink is clear, I put the pan in the sink and run hot water into it and pour off what comes out easily - often that's everything.3. Any pits and pieces left, I either use my little piece of what looks like steel chain mail, or a toss in a large pinch of kosher salt. Either way I scrape off the bits and pieces.4. Rinse and dry... and here comes what made the difference to me5. Instead of turning on the oven, I put the pan on the range top. I set it at a low heat (remember I have induction so it heats up faster and probably hotter than another range) for 10 minutes. I check that the whole pan is warm by QUICKLY touching the handle. It should be toasty but not blister level with a quick touch.6. I then put in just a few drops of the Caron & Doucet oil and wipe it all around the bottom and sides of the pan with a paper towel.7. Turn off the range and it's done. ALthough once maybe every 2-3 weeks or 10-12 uses I use a little more oil, leave the pan on the range another 10 minutes after wiping the oil all over and then re-rub the oil around.The Caron & Doucet oil has no smell, leaves no aftertaste (I do cook some delicately flavored things in my cast iron pans - so I would know), doesn't turn rancid and WORKS.

Regular olive oil works just as well and is always handy in the pantry closet.
