Learning Resources Cuisenaire Rods Small Group Classroom Set, Math Class, Teacher Aids, 155 Piece Wood Set,Multi-color

I grew up with these over 50 years ago. Excellent for every child who struggles with numbers and how they relate to each other, as each number from 1 to 10 has its own colour and a length proportional to it numeric value. Highly recommended for KG and Grade 1!

A good teaching set -- timeless.

These things are truly amazing for helping kids (and adults) develop a strong and intuitive concept of many mathematical relationships. It might be necessary to do some searching for good activities for them, but at the very least, all you need to do is pour them on the table and let kids play and build things. They'll learn tons just by doing that. Let them do that while you look up various official activities to efficiently teach different concepts. Many years ago I bought a different set, but I didn't take care of them properly. Life got busy, and I left them sitting in a windowsill for all summer. We live in a desert and triple digit weather is a fact of life. The window was south facing. The poor rods warped, which rather changed their size and shape and made them confusing and nearly useless. I replaced them with this set, which actually had the exact same colors. That was wonderful. I was able to keep the unwarped old rods and mix them in with this set very easily. Fractions, decimals, ratios, borrowing, carrying, these rods can practically do it all. Highly recommend them, even if the most you ever do is let your kids simply build shapes and buildings at the kitchen table.

The container for keeping the rods together is an added bonus. The price was right comparatively, considering the number of rods.
